The Israeli army took reporters to a Hezbollah tunnel just 200 meters from a UN post in southern Lebanon, claiming it violates UN Resolution 1701, which seeks to keep armed groups away from the border. During the visit, they displayed ammunition and an Iranian IED linked to Hezbollah.
The UN noted that Israeli tanks entered a peacekeeping area, and Hezbollah allegedly fired on Israeli troops, injuring 25 soldiers. Prime Minister Netanyahu has urged the withdrawal of UN peacekeepers from Hezbollah areas, worried they could be used as human shields.
