Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya Movie Review: Nothing Makes Sense in Shahid Kapoor-Kriti Sanon's Film
A boy who doesn't want to get married and runs away from commitment meets a girl, falls in love, and now his faith in the institution of marriage becomes stronger, forcing him to tie the knot. Directors Amit Joshi and Aradhana Sah put their own 'tadka' to the same 'khichdi' now with 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya'. Bollywood has roasted the theme in many movies over and over. The movie mainly focuses on the approach of a futuristic love story, and needless to say, when it comes to romance, it will make you do mindless things, and the movie is living proof of it. Audience at the theater hall watched a human falling in love with a robot. But, after watching the film for a while, it is easy to realise that the film is a lost battle and you are trapped in it.
Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya starts with a low-energy
Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya begins with a loud, big Punjabi family trying their best to get their only son married. However, they fail every time when Aryan rejects every single girl his parents bring to him. Now, what's the solution? If you can't get your work done in legitimate ways, then you are obliged to consider 'other' ways; that's what Aryan's (played by Shahid) parents do by getting his fingerprints on marriage documents while he is asleep. And when Aryan wakes up, he sees himself married to a robot. But oh! Wait, that was not the reality but a bizarre dream of a robotics engineer. Fun fact, this bizarre dream will take up the shape of reality eventually.
Aryan is not the only one in the family who is a technology freak; it's his aunt Urmila played by Dimple Kapadia, who shares the same level of enthusiasm when it comes to machines and robots. By the way, Dimple's Urmila has a sister named Sharmila (played by Anubha Fatehpuria). Just saying. Here is when the story starts to take a road which none could have imagined. With some on-and-off jests, the movie starts to pace up when Aryan lands in the US to visit his aunt and meets Sifra (played by Kriti Sanon), a super-intelligent robot who looks and feels human. Now, a robot like Sifra, who knows all your likes, dislikes, and preferences, especially in food items, can easily make a man fall in love. But the fact when Aryan is hit with the reality of Sifra being a robot, his entire character turns into Kabir Singh with a cigarette in one hand and a whisky glass in the other and added to it is his unshaven beard. But, thankfully Aryan and his best pal Monty (played by Ashish Verma) save us from experiencing the toxic Kabir Singh nostalgia by adding a touch of humour to the painful breakup.
Spoiler Alert!
Amid the desi masi-bhatija camaraderie, Aryan now decides to take the matter into his own hands, which none could have thought would go as far as having a robot as a family member. However, the next twists and turns in the film will not just bring your attention towards what is going on at the big screens, but will also leave you thinking that in today's generation are we this alone that we agree to have a robot as our partners? Not just this, it will also force you to think about where exactly is the technology going and what could we be facing in the coming years.
Shahid Kapoor and Kriti Sanon's Performances
Coming back to Shahid Kapoor's acting, he will also be the lover boy of Bollywood, aiming to do the best romance on screen. On the other hand, Kriti Sanon tried holding her robotic demeanour but somehow disappointed the audience sitting. Also, it was evident to realise that the actress had limited dialogues and could only say '
Theek Hai" to anything asked. Surprisingly, Dimple is not very simple in the movie. The actress features a boss lady vibe with fancy glasses, elegant shawls, and messy buns.
Clearly, the filmmakers have consistently toyed with the placement of their supporting actors (the good part about the film). From Dharam Paaji, Rakesh Bedi, Ashish Verma to Rajesh Kumar, the movie would lack substance without its cast, whose presence imbues the film with its essence, hinting at the nuanced ways one character asserts dominance over another. Their performances alone are nearly a sufficient reason to watch the entire film.

Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya kicks off with the bustling chaos of a large Punjabi family fervently attempting to find a suitable match for their only son, Aryan. Despite their persistent efforts, Aryan staunchly rejects every potential match his parents present to him. Faced with this dilemma, Aryan's parents resort to unconventional means: surreptitiously obtaining his fingerprints on marriage documents while he sleeps. The result? Aryan wakes up to find himself unwittingly wedded to a robot. However, this bewildering scenario turns out to be nothing more than a peculiar dream of a robotics engineer. Little does Aryan realise that this bizarre dream will eventually manifest into reality.
