According to PTI, the BCCI has indefinitely suspended the IPL 2025 season. "It does not look nice that cricket goes on while the country is at war," a BCCI official said to PTI, confirming the suspension of the league, which was to wind up on May 25 in Kolkata.
There have been few instances where IPL has been suspended before, let's take a look at all of them.
The season was halted on May 4, 2021, due to a COVID-19 outbreak inside multiple team bio-bubbles in India. The remainder of the tournament was completed in September–October 2021 in the UAE under stricter protocols.
Originally set for March 2020, it was postponed due to the nationwide COVID-19 lockdown in India.
To ensure player safety, the entire season was held in the UAE from September to November 2020, behind closed doors.
The tournament was moved out of India as it clashed with General Elections, and the government couldn’t guarantee security. It ran smoothly in South Africa from April to May 2009, marking the first IPL held entirely outside India.
