These sudden chills are coming from the mountains as heavy snowfall has been witnessed in hilly areas, which is affecting the plains as well. March is the month that signals the end of winter and the start of the spring season. This is the month when people pack away their winter wear and blankets. But this year seems to be an exception, as North India is still experiencing winter chills. The daytime temperature is also pleasant because of the strong winds.
States like Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Delhi-NCR, and Uttar Pradesh are experiencing a sudden and unexpected drop in temperatures. The sudden change in weather was due to a western disturbance.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, a rise in facing temperature is expected after Thursday, March 6. Skymet Weather stated that light to moderate rain and snowfall are likely to continue in the Western Himalaya region for 24 hours. After that dry weather is likely to prevail.
On Wednesday, light to moderate rainfall is anticipated in eastern Assam and Arunachal Pradesh, with some areas of Lakshadweep and Kerala also expecting scattered showers. In Rajasthan, temperatures are projected to decline steadily over the next couple of days. The Konkan and Goa regions, along with coastal Karnataka, are forecasted to encounter hot and humid weather from March 4 to 6 and March 4 to 7, respectively.
