Located next to the Gateway of India, the hotel is named after the Taj Mahal in Agra.
Constructed in the Indo-Saracenic style, the Taj Mahal Palace hotel opened in 1903 as the Taj Mahal Hotel.
The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel is considered as one of the finest hotels in the East since the time of the British Raj.
This particular hotel was one of the main targets in the 2008 Mumbai attacks.
The Taj Mahal Palace hotel has 560 rooms and 44 suites and is considered as the flagship property of the group.
Taj Mahal Palace hotel employs 1,600 staff and is made up of two different structures.
Notably, the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel was commissioned by Jamsetji Tata and opened its doors to guests on 16 December 1903.
