Shivaji Maharaj Killed Afzal Khan With ‘Wagh Nakh’

Wagh-nakh, brought to India from the London Museum & put on display in Chhatrapati Shivaji Museum in Satara.
A historic tiger claw ‘Wagh Nakh’ was used by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to kill Afzal Khan in the Battle of Pratapgarh In 1659.
Afzal Khan was sent by the Mughals to Kill the Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Khan marched into the Konkan and asked for a meeting with Shivaji Maharaj.
But Shivaji Maharaj smelled conspiracy & went prepared wearing a chainmail under his robes and hiding a ‘Wagh Nakh’ in his sleeve.
Afzal Khan attempted to stab Shivaji Maharaj but Shivaji attacked with the ‘Wagh Nakh’ & tore out Khan's intestines.
Khan was eventually beheaded by one of Shivaji’s men and in the battle that followed, Maratha army came out as victor.
