According to reports, Rajasthan cadre IPS officer Pankaj Choudhary was demoted by the state Department of Personnel for three years following an inquiry related to the case pertaining to his second marriage. It was alleged that his second marriage was solemnised without ending the first.

Choudhary who is currently posted as Superintendent of Police, Community Policing, at the Police Headquarters in Jaipur, has been demoted from Senior Pay Scale (Level 11 in Pay Matrix) to Junior Pay Scale (Level 10) for a period of three years beginning December 18, 2024, according to the order issued last week by the Department of Personnel.

Talking to The Indian Express, Choudhary said: “The order is illegal and is contempt of the court. I will challenge the order.”

He said that the CAT, the High Court and the Supreme Court have already ruled in his favour in the matter and said that due benefits should be given to him in a time bound manner. He also questioned the timing of the order which comes almost four years after the clean chit from the courts.

Taking to X, Choudhary wrote, “The issue is not whether there was a promotion or a demotion. The issue is the deliberate contempt of the honourable courts’ orders, which is unfortunate. This symptom and trend are harmful and sad for the state. It breaks trust in the system. Impartiality and justice are the foundation of peace. Satyameva Jayate – Jai Hind – Jai Bharat.”

“Every war demands a price. This war is special, against organised corruption and opportunists. In this age of flattery and sycophancy, this war is for the betterment of future generations,” Choudhary said, adding that how can the “cunning, opportunistic species” scare someone with a demotion when that person has already faced dismissal from service.

Choudhary hit headlines for all wrong reasons

Interestingly, this is not the first time when Choudhary has made it to the headlines for all wrong reasons. In September 2024, he had written an open letter and demanded that former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot be arrested “to bring the truth of paper leaks out,” while accusing the former CM of vendetta and “mysterious malice” towards him during his last two tenures as CM.

In 2015, the IPS officer accused the then Vasundhara Raje government of targeting him – by removing him from his post – and said that he had refused to let rioters from the VHP and Bajrang Dal go free during riots in Bundi’s Nainwa and Khanpur in September 2014 despite “pressure from all levels of government”, and that he was told to “register false cases” against Muslims instead.

Choudhary had made the allegations after he was served a chargesheet by the Rajasthan government which accused him of not acting in time to tackle the riots.

The taxi collided with the Rajasthan CM’s convoy on Jagatpura road in Jaipur on Wednesday, injuring five policemen.

A total of seven people, five from the CM’s convoy and two from the taxi, were sent to a hospital, Jaipur police said, adding ASI Surendra lost his life during treatment.

“The incident of death of Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Shri Surendra ji and injuries to other citizens in an unfortunate vehicle accident in Jaipur today is extremely sad,” said the CM in a post on X.

The CM further informed that concerned officials are directed to ensure proper medical treatment to all the injured people. “In this moment of immense grief, our sensitive government stands with the family of the deceased and the injured. After this accident, the concerned officials have been directed to ensure proper medical treatment of the injured,” the post added.

“My condolences are with the bereaved family. I pray to Lord Shri Ram to grant the departed soul a place in his lotus feet and provide full recovery to the injured citizens as soon as possible. Om Shanti,” the CM said.

Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju Geroge Joseph said that despite repeated signals by police officials, the car driver ignored the signals and rammed into the CM’s carcade. “Despite the warnings by police, a taxi car did not accept the police’s signals and turned the car very fast towards the intersection, at that time the carcade was leaving the intersection and the taxi car collided with the warning car of the carcade,” Police Commissioner Joseph said.

Earlier on Wednesday, ‘Rising Rajasthan’ Global Investment Summit 2024 concluded successfully with its valedictory session and MSME conclave, held in the presence of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, and other dignitaries.

Rajasthan Shocker! 7-year-old raped, left bleeding from privates, by landlord’s 24-year-old son in Bundi; accused on the run https://www.india.com/rajasthan/rajasthan-rape-7-year-old-girl-raped-injured-by-landlords-24-year-old-son-in-bundi-accused-on-the-run-7244550/ Fri, 13 Sep 2024 16:29:52 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7244550 Rajasthan Rape: Amidst the backdrop of the massive outrage and protests over the brutal rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, a 7-year-old girl was allegedly raped by her landlord’s 24-year-old son in Bundi city of Rajasthan. According to the police, the accused, who is on the run since committing the crime, left the minor victim bleeding from her private parts.

A senior official said the incident took place in Bypass Road area on Wednesday but came to light on Thursday night when the girl complained of discomfort while urinating and her parents found blood stains around her genitals.

“The victim’s parents noticed that their daughter was in distress while urinating and had blood stains around her private parts, following which they approached Bundi district Child Welfare Committee on Friday morning,” Bundi Superintendent of Police (SP) (City) Hanuman Prasad Meena told news agency PTI.

The officer said Bundi district Child Welfare Committee Chairperson, Seema Poddhar informed police about the incident who promptly registered a case and launched an investigation in the matter.

A case of rape was registered under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against the accused, adding that several teams have been formed to nab the culprit who is absconding from the house.

Further investigation in the case is underway, he said.

The case bears eerie resemblance to a similar incident which took place in Delhi last month where an 11-year-old girl was allegedly raped by the 22-year-old son of a house owner where the girl’s family lived as tenants. Akin to the Bundi case, the accused left the minor victim bleeding from her privates, and threatened to kill her if she narrated the harrowing ordeal to anyone.

The incidents come amidst the ongoing nationwide outrage and protests over the brutal rape and killing of a 32-year-old trainee doctor at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata last week.

“Get the number plates of those vehicles installed in five days who have made payments and got the booking slots. And return the payment of those whose slots have not been issued as of now,” Deputy CM Bairwa wrote to the Additional Chief Secretary of the Transport Department.

He further instructed to restart the process of installing HSRP number plates following a new method, which can enhance the speed of the process.

“Action will be taken against the officials for not following these orders,” said Deputy CM Bairwa.

Former Transport Commissioner Kanhaiya Lal Swami ordered the installation of HSRP number plates on September 23, 2023, and the work to install the number plates started in December last year.

However, in the last seven months, HSRP number plates were installed by 4.44 lakh vehicles while 16 lakh vehicle owners had applied for the plates.

The Deputy Chief Minister also informed that the Transport Department is doing online registration for HSRP number plates via an online portal.

Vehicle companies have been installing HSRP number plates through the application received from the portal but then the vehicle owners have to wait for months.

Also, a high amount is being charged in the process which causes trouble to the common people.

However, the Deputy Chief Minister has now instructed to start the process at the department level.

According to officials, the district administration razed the accused boy’s house with JCB machines, adding the demolition was carried out in presence of police personnel.

On Friday, a class 10 student stabbed a schoolmate at government school in Udaipur, sparking communal violence in the city, following which authorities ordered the closure of all government and private schools in the district till further orders.

Schools shut, internet snapped

All government and private schools in Udaipur have been ordered to remain shut until further orders in view of the law-and-order situation, said Collector Arvind Poswal.

The collector appealed to people to ignore rumours being spread regarding the incident.

Rajasthan Service Rules Row: 700 Teachers Across 17 Medical Colleges Announce Mass Leave In Protest https://www.india.com/rajasthan/rajasthan-service-rules-row-700-teachers-across-17-medical-colleges-announce-mass-leave-in-protest-7101656/ Sat, 20 Jul 2024 17:23:07 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7101656 Around 700 teachers across 17 government-run medical colleges in Rajasthan have declared a mass leave from July 22 (Monday), to protest against the BJP government in the state for not covering the teachers appointed before August 1, 2024 under the Rajasthan Service Rules.

Teachers’ appointments in state-run medical colleges are carried out by Rajasthan Medical Education Society (RajMES), an autonomous body of the state government and the society’s service rules are applied to them.

However, of late, the teachers have been Rajasthan Civil Services (Revised Pay) Rules should be adopted by the society because there are several anomalies in the society’s rules.

Dr Rajendra Yadav, vice president of the RajMES RMCTA welfare society, said the government recently announced in the state budget that the Rajasthan Civil Services Rules will be adopted in the RajMES, which was welcomed by the teachers association.

But later the association came to know that it will be applicable on teachers appointed on or after 1 August 2024, Yadav said.

“It has come to our notice that the finance department has decided that the medical teachers appointed in RajMES before 1 August 2024 will be a ‘dying cadre’ and existing rules of the society will be applicable on them whereas the Rajasthan Civil Services (Revised Pay) Rules-2017 will be applicable on teachers appointed on or after 1 August 2024,” he said.

Dr Yadav said the decision to exclude medical teachers before August 1 2024 will result in a massive pay disparity among new appointees and those recruited before the said date.

As such as many as 700 teachers in around 17 government medical colleges have announced to go on mass leave from July 22, over the Rajasthan government’s decision to exclude them from the Rajasthan Service Rules.

17 Out Of 19 Recruitment Exams In Rajasthan Witnessed Paper Leaks Under Congress Rule, Claims CM Bhajanlal Sharma https://www.india.com/rajasthan/17-out-of-19-recruitment-exams-in-rajasthan-witnessed-paper-leaks-under-congress-rule-claims-cm-bhajanlal-sharma-7067233/ Sun, 07 Jul 2024 15:26:57 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7067233 Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma Sunday claimed 17 out of the 19 recruitment exams held during the erstwhile Congress dispensation in the state witnessed paper leaks and upon assuming charge, the BJP government took stern action against perpetrators by ordering an SIT probe during which 108 accused were arrested.

“During the tenure of the previous government, 17 out of 19 papers were leaked which pushed youths into the depths of despair,” CM Sharma said while addressing a gathering after the inauguration of the Rajpurohit Global Center of Excellence (Rajpurohit Hostel) in Jaipur.

The chief minister said that as soon as the BJP took the reins of government, a special investigation team (SIT) was formed to investigate paper leak cases that took concrete action in the matter and arrested 108 accused.

“Around 108 people have been arrested in paper leak cases. These are the people who shattered the dreams of the youth,” he said and asserted that those who break the dreams of the youth will not be spared.

Attacking arch rivals Congress, Sharma alleged that the previous government had “pushed our youth power into the depths of despair”. The morale of hard-working and honest students was broken due to the incidents of paper leak, Sharma claimed.

The Rajasthan chief minister said recruitments for around 70,000 posts are being made this year, adding that Yuva Saathi centres are being established at all divisional headquarters of the state which will guide the youths in building their careers in the private sector.

“Prioritising the welfare of the country’s youths, Prime Minister Narendra Modi brought the National Education Policy 2020 to make the education system employment-oriented and the young people capable of facing the challenges of the 21st century”, the chief minister said.

In Chittorgarh, BJP state president C P Joshi alleged that the Congress did not undertake any development work in Rajasthan during its rule.

“The previous Congress government did not do any work of public interest for five years. They did something a few months before the elections, and even in that they made people stand in a queue and made them feel that we are giving you something,” the Chittorgarh MP alleged.

But as soon as the BJP formed government, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma took many public welfare decisions, he said and asserted that a history of development would be created under the BJP’s double-engine government.

Pratap Ram, 63, who became known as ‘Bhangar Wale Baba’ online, after a video of him was shot by vlogger Shivam Lakhara, publicly committed suicide in front of a crowd who were trolling him over the viral social media video.

In video shot in Lohawat area of Jodhpur a few months ago, Lakhara, accompanied by a female Japanese vlogger, is seen offering help to Ram who is pulling a cart loaded with scrap material in the scorching heat.

As the two vloggers approach Ram, he casually asks them, “Bhangar leno hai?” (Do you want to buy scrap). Lakhara shared the clip on social media with the title “Bhangar leno hai?”, where it went viral sparking a vicious string of trolling by local youths who began incessantly harassing and bullying the elderly man, repeatedly asking “bhangar leno hai?” while recording the act on their phones.

‘Enjoy now’

On Sunday evening, Ram was faced with a similar situation when a group of young men surrounded him and bullied him while asking “bhangar leno hai?”.

Fed up with rabid bullying and harassment, Ram simply replied “enjoy now”, as he climbed climbed a tree with a rope in his hand, yet shockingly, none among the crowd tried to stop him and instead kept recording while the elderly man went on to take the extreme step.

It was only when Ram hanged himself from the tree that the crowd fled the spot, a video shared on social media showed.

Police registers FIR

Police said they have registered an FIR against against unidentified people for abetment of suicide, based on a complaint filed by the victim’s son.

A senior officer said strict action will be taken and a precedent will be set so that such an incident does not occur again.

“We have interrogated some suspects. It will take some more time (to punish the guilty) as we have to consider several digital evidence,” said Inspector General of Police Vikas Kumar.

‘I must pay for this’

Meanwhile, following Ram’s death, vlogger Shivam Lakhara claimed he was being trolled online and threatened to end his life. In a video uploaded on social media, Lakhara said he was being blamed for Ram’s death and facing harassment.

“Baba (Ram) has died and now more will die after him,” he said, threatening to end his life.

Lakhara said he made this video intending to help Ram.

“But people began harassing him. I must pay for this,” Lakhara said in the video.
