Patna: In a peculiar incident, the New Delhi-Islampur Magadh Superfast Express split into two between the Buxar-Patna rail section in Bihar when its coupling broke on Sunday morning, PTI reported. The incident took place when the train was running between Turiganj and Raghunathpur railway stations in the Buxar district. The train was halted after the incident which happened around 11.00 am. Fortunately, No passengers were hurt in the incident.

Chief Public Relation Officer (CPRO) of East Central Railway Sharswati Chandra told news agency PTI that the incident took place when the coupling of the Magadh Express (20802) from New Delhi to Islampur broke down. He stated that rescue teams have reached the spot.

“Yes, the incident took place when the coupling of the Magadh Express (20802) from New Delhi to Islampur broke, splitting the train into two between Turiganj and Raghunathpur railway stations. A rescue team as well as technical teams have reached the spot and officials are trying to rectify it at the earliest,” PTI quoted Chandra as saying.

The railway authorities have ordered an inquiry to probe the exact cause of the incident, Chandra added.

In July this year, the Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Express faced a mishap as eight of its carriages veered off the tracks close to the Gonda railway station in Uttar Pradesh. This unfortunate incident led to the loss of three precious lives and left 30 others nursing injuries.

The train had set off from the station in Chandigarh at a late-night hour of 11:35 pm in July, embarking on a journey towards Dibrugarh, located in Assam. However, disaster struck on a seemingly ordinary Thursday afternoon. Roughly at half-past two (2:35 pm, to be precise), the train met with an accident. The unfortunate incident happened somewhere in between two stations – Motiganj and Jhilahi, situating in the Gonda district.
