PM Modi inaugurated the new campus of Nalanda University in Bihar's Rajgir on Wednesday.
Established around 1600 years ago, the ancient Nalanda University is considered to be among the first residential universities in the world.
This new university campus is created to be a replica of the original Nalanda University.
The new Nalanda University campus has two academic blocks with 40 classrooms and total seating capacity of around 1900.
The Nalanda University campus has two auditoriums with a capacity of 300 seats each.
The new Nalanda University campus has a student hostel with a capacity of around 550 students.
The university has various other facilities, including an international centre, an amphitheatre that can accommodate up to 2000 individuals.
The campus of the Nalanda University is a 'Net Zero' Green Campus and is self-sustaining with solar plants.
The campus has a water recycling plant for reusing wastewater, 100 acres of water bodies, and many other environment-friendly facilities.
This new university started its operations in 2014 at a provisional site with an initial cohort of 14 students.
The Nalanda university offers 137 scholarships to international students and comprises six schools.
