An Assistant sub-inspector of the Madhya Pradesh State Agriculture Marketing (Mandi) Board was brazenly attacked by a group of men while inspecting a truck at a toll plaza in Shivpuri district of the state.

Madhya Pradesh Viral Video: A government official was brazenly attacked and thrashed a group of men in Shivpuri district in Madhya Pradesh. The shocking incident which was captured on CCTV cameras installed in the area, reportedly took place on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday at Purankhedi toll plaza in Shivpuri.

A CCTV clip shared on social media showed the victim, Vikas Sharma, Assistant sub-inspector of the Madhya Pradesh State Agriculture Marketing (Mandi) Board, being chased and beaten by the assailants.

In the video, Sharma, the Mandi Board inspector wearing a khaki uniform, is seen running towards a Dhaba (eatery) while being chased by a group four-five men. The attackers finally catch up to Sharma, hitting him with plastic chairs, while kicking and slapping the victim, the video showed.

Giving details, a senior police official said Vikas Sharma, an Assistant sub-inspector of Mandi Board, was part of a flying squad which had intercepted a truck heading to Guna from Shivpuri.

“The truck was transporting groundnuts but did not have the necessary Mandi tax permit. During the inspection, some men arrived in an SUV and started throwing stones at the Mandi board officials. Later, they also chased and attacked Sharma,” the police said, adding that a case has been registered against the truck owner, Deepak Tomar and searches are underway to arrest him.

An FIR has also been registered against the men who assaulted Sharma and CCTV footage of the area is being scanned to identify them, said an official.

Further investigation in the case is underway.
