Omkareshwar: Only Jyotirlinga Where Mahadev Comes To Rest Every Night

Omkareshwar Temple, located on an island in the shape of Om in Khandwa district of Madhya Pradesh, has religious significance.

Among the twelve Jyotirlingas associated with Lord Shiva, Omkareshwar located in Madhya Pradesh comes fourth.

Here Lord Shiva is seated on the Om shaped mountain on the banks of river Narmada.

The biggest belief is that Lord Bholenath visits all the three worlds and comes to this temple every night to sleep at night.

Like the Bhasma Aarti of Mahakaleshwar Jyotirling in Ujjain, the Shayan Aarti of Omkareshwar Temple is world famous.

In Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga temple, aarti of Lord Shiva is performed for three periods in the morning, mid and evening.

It is also believed that in this temple Mahadev plays ‘Chausar’ with Goddess Parvati.
