The Varanasi Ropeway Project is India's first public ropeway system under the National Ropeways Development Programme, named 'Parvatmala Pariyojana.'
The first leg of the Varanasi Ropeway Project is expected to be completed by August 2024.
The first leg of the project will connect Varanasi Cantonment Railway Station to RathYatra.
The ticket prices for the ropeway rides have not been announced yet because the project is still under construction.
The stations of the Varanasi ropeway include Varanasi Cantonment, Kashi Vidyapith, RathYatra, and Girja Ghar Godowlia Chowk.
PM Modi laid the foundation for the 3.75-km Passenger Ropeway in March 2023.
The ropeway service will include 150 gondolas, each accommodating 10 passengers.
