PAN 2.0: Check key features, changes, QR details, and more

Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the PAN 2.0 project of the Income Tax Department of India on November 26, 2024.

The new PAN 2.0 Project aims to integrate all PAN/TAN services into a unified ITD portal.

The platform will offer services like- PAN updates, Aadhaar-PAN linking, PAN verification, e-PAN issuance, and more.

PAN allocation, updates, and corrections will be free of charge, with e-PAN documents sent to registered email addresses.

The new PAN card will feature a dynamic QR code for quick scanning of the current information and to enhance online functionalities.

PAN was introduced in 1972 and has been a key taxpayer identification system for decades.

PAN 2.0 incorporates advanced technology to align with the government’s Digital India plan.
