But he’s known for much more than just his wealth. From leading Reliance Industries to launching Jio, which changed the way India uses the internet, Ambani has had a huge impact on business, telecom, retail, and energy in the country. His family is also often in the spotlight, whether it’s for their new startups or their fashion choices. His daughter-in-law, Shloka Mehta, for example, is often praised for her stylish looks at Bollywood parties and high-profile events.

Shloka Mehta got married to Akash Ambani, the elder son of Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani, on March 9, 2019, just three months after the wedding ceremony of Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal. Shloka and Akash Ambani are proud parents to two children—Prithvi Akash Ambani and Veda Akash Ambani.

Meanwhile, Shloka’s sister, Diya Mehta, has also made a name for herself as a rising fashion icon. Shloka’s younger sister, Diya Mehta Jatia, is making her own mark in the fashion world. Married to Ayush Jatia, the son of Amit Jatia, who runs Hardcastle Restaurants (the master franchisee for McDonald’s in West and South India), Diya is a fashion consultant with a strong sense of style. She is known for styling Shloka for many of her stunning looks and has worked closely with her over the years. Diya splits her time between London and Mumbai, and her British home is a picture of modern luxury with chic colours and elegant artwork.

Diya plays an important role in overseeing her family’s business interests. Her father, Russell Mehta, is the Managing Director of Rosy Blue, a renowned diamond manufacturing company with an estimated net worth of approximately Rs 1,800 crore. She is also Isha Ambani’s friend.

‘Just watching TV…’: Meet man who earns Rs 66 lakh per annum, says he works only… https://www.india.com/viral/just-watching-tv-meet-man-who-earns-rs-66-lakh-per-annum-says-he-works-only-7809372/ Fri, 09 May 2025 06:20:48 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7809372 Viral Post: An online debate has started after a Reddit user claimed that he earns USD 80,000 (approx Rs 66 lakh) per annum by working only a week each month. The man said that he spends the rest of his time watching his favourite television shows, listening to podcasts, and browsing the internet. “I’ve become so efficient at my job that I only put in about one real week of work every month. The rest of the time, I’m just watching TV shows, listening to podcasts, or diving into random rabbit holes online,” the man wrote on Reddit.

The Reddit user explained that when he started the work, he faced challenges due to lack of formal education in the field. However, with time, he understood and mastered the work, typing 75 words per minute without making an error and delivering clear reports.

“No one complains. In fact, I’m the top performer at my company. I have the best relationships with clients, I meet all my deadlines, and my work is spotless,” the man said.

I work one week a month and no one has noticed, while on a high salary.

In spite of his success, he felt unhappy. “I used to read a lot—one year, 200 books. I’ve explored every topic I care about. And now? I’m just bored,” he said. “I thought doing everything right would make me feel good. But I’m overachieving, underworked, and feel worse than when I was struggling.”

He expressed his situation as something beyond quiet quitting. “Quiet quitting isn’t even the right term. It’s more like silent burnout.”

The Reddit post has gone viral on the platform and drew several reactions, with many expressing both envy and intrigue.

 • “You are living my dream,” a user commented.
 • “What job is that?”, while one offered a suggestion, “You need another remote job,” Another commented.
 • “I make 85k and probably do between 4-8 hours of actual work a week. It is very boring and draining just existing 32-36 hours a week at my office,” a user said.
 • “Been there and done that. It was amazing. Enjoy it while it lasts. Eventually, you may need to get a different job or the situation may change. It’s one of those you really know what you have until it is gone,” another user said.

India-Pakistan tensions bring Baba Vanga’s 2025 war prediction back into focus, it was about….,humanity to… https://www.india.com/viral/india-pakistan-tensions-bring-baba-vangas-2025-war-prediction-back-into-focus-it-was-about-humanity-to-7807616/ Thu, 08 May 2025 13:16:40 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7807616 Baba Vanga is widely regarded as one of the most intriguing mystics of the 20th century. Vanga’s predictions have been regarded as strikingly accurate by several followers. She spoke about a wide range of topics, including natural disasters, the rise and fall of communism, and major political events. Her followers frequently viewed her as a true prophet, drawing comparisons between her and Nostradamus, the renowned French seer from the 1500s. Due to the seeming accuracy of her visions and their alignment with real-world events, she was often referred to as the “Nostradamus of the Balkans.”

India-Pakistan tensions bring Baba Vanga’s 2025 war prediction back into focus, it was about….,humanity to…

As per a report by the New York Post, Baba Vanga, the blind Bulgarian mystic, predicted that 2025 would mark the beginning of a devastating war in Europe, which she believed would lead to the “downfall of humanity.” It is also reported that Vanga predicted the world would officially end in 5079. While she did not specify the countries involved, her prediction has gained attention amid growing unrest in several regions, including the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. Her prediction, made several years ago, is being revisited as global headlines increasingly reflect a world marked by instability and growing tensions.

In addition, Baba Vanga foresaw a global economic collapse in 2025, with financial systems around the world descending into chaos. This warning gained renewed attention following former US President Donald Trump’s announcement of significant tariffs on April 9, as seen in his post on Truth Social.

Sharing a post, Trump wrote,”NOBODY is getting ‘off the hook’ for the unfair Trade Balances, and Non-Monetary Tariff Barriers, that other countries have used against us, especially not China, which, by far, treats us the worst!”

According to The Daily Mirror, tariffs have now surged between 10% and 50% for multiple countries, with China hit by an unprecedented 145% duty. Alongside her prediction of a major war, Baba Vanga also foresaw powerful and devastating earthquakes occurring in 2025. One of these predictions appears to have partially come true. On March 28, a massive 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar, resulting in over 1,700 fatalities.

Married a Pakistani soldier, got her husband killed after pregnancy and helped India win, read the extraordinary story of an Indian female spy https://www.india.com/viral/married-a-pakistani-soldier-got-her-husband-killed-after-pregnancy-and-helped-india-win-read-the-extraordinary-story-of-an-indian-female-spy-7807116/ Thu, 08 May 2025 09:51:36 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7807116 Remember movie Raazi where Alia Bhat becomes an Indian spy and enters Pakistan by marrying an Army general in Pakistan? Such is the story of spy named Sahamat whose father wanted her to serve the country and hence she married an army officer in Pakistan.

This story begins in 1969. A student from Jammu and Kashmir studying in Delhi University was suddenly called home by her father. The father’s last wish was to prepare his daughter to serve the country. This girl later became famous by the name ‘Sahamat’ who played an important role in the 1971 war.

Father was also a spy

According to Harinder Singh Sikka’s novel ‘Calling Sahamat’, Sahamat’s father worked for India’s intelligence agency R&AW. Due to business, he had contacts across the border. Due to this, during the 1965 war, he received many important messages from Pakistan and delivered them to the Indian agency. He had cancer and the disease had reached a stage where treatment was not possible. He wanted his daughter to work for the country after him.

Marriage in Pakistan

At that time, Sahamat, who was only 20 years old, was doing her graduation and was also learning classical dance and violin playing. On her father’s insistence, she left her studies and became a spy. She was sent to Pakistan on a mission. She had to find out what plans were being made among the top officers of the Pakistani army. For this mission, Sahamat had to marry Pakistani army officer Iqbal Syed. Iqbal’s father Brigadier Parvez Syed was also a senior officer in the army. Sahamat was told that she had to listen to the conversations of army officers. She was also given basic training to send and receive emergency messages through Morse code.

Influence in the army

Sahamat not only won the trust of her in-laws but also of other families living in the army quarters. Her art of music and dance came in handy. She started training children in the army school. Along with the grandchildren of General Yahya Khan, children of top officers of the Pakistani army also studied in this school. Gradually, Sahamat gained access to the Pakistani defence sector and intelligence circles. Because of him, his father-in-law Brigadier Parvez Syed also got the benefit of promotion.

Destruction of Ghazi

Meanwhile, the war between India and Pakistan was almost certain in 1971. At that time India had the indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. This carrier proved to be strategically very important in India’s victory over Pakistan and the independence of Bangladesh. However, Pakistan was aware of this and then planned to target the Indian warship deployed in the Bay of Bengal. Pakistan assigned the mission of sinking the Indian warship to its missile-equipped submarine PNS Ghazi. Sahamat came to know about this. He sent information related to the positioning of PNS Ghazi to India and the Indian Navy took immediate action and sank the Pakistani submarine near Visakhapatnam port. All the people on board were killed.

Return to the country

Abdul, a close associate of the Syed family, suspected Sahamat. Sahamat killed him by crushing him with a truck. Sahamat’s husband Iqbal also came to know the truth. Sahamat’s handlers killed him too. She was pregnant, and then she returned safely to India. After this, she decided to spend the rest of her life in Malerkotla, Punjab. The boy with whom she had first fallen in love in DU was still waiting for her. But, Sahamat, with a burden of blood on her heart, was not ready. That boy then raised Sahamat’s son, who later became an army officer himself. Sahamat died in 2018 and his real identity has been kept secret till date so that his son is not in danger.

Day after Operation Sindoor, Mukesh Ambani makes big move, Reliance applies for…. https://www.india.com/viral/day-after-operation-sindoor-mukesh-ambani-makes-big-move-reliance-applies-for-operation-sindoor-trademark-7807149/ Thu, 08 May 2025 08:30:46 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7807149 The Indian armed forces only took 25 minutes to perish the terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan’s nine locations on Wednesday, May 7, 2025. The move, which the government named ‘Operation Sindoor’, is widely hailed by people in India. Now, in one of the recent developments, Reliance Industries, owned by business tycoon Mukesh Ambani has applied for the trademark for Operation Sindoor. Further, the application has been made under the class 41. Once Reliance Industries gets the trademark, then only they will be able to use the name for entertainment and cultural activities.

Apart from Reliance, there are three other people who have applied for the ‘Operation Sindoor’ trademark. These proprietors are Mukesh Chetram Agarwal, Group Captain Kamal Singh Ober (Retd), and Alok Kothari.

Take a look here:

Application Review for Operation Sindoor Trademark

The official trademark registry is handled by the Controller General of Patents, Designs & Trade Marks (CGPDTM), which is part of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. All the proprietors who have applied for the Operation Sindoor trademark have submitted their applications to the authorities which will be reviewed. This process might take months, and if approved, Reliance will get exclusive rights to use “Operation Sindoor” in specified categories.

As per legal experts, the trademark can be given on a first come, first served basis, and as per that, Reliance is the first to apply. Meanwhile, speculations claim that once the trademark is given to Reliance, then there are chances that the company may use the name to make films, documentaries, and cultural events showcasing the bravery of India’s military.

Class 41 of trademark registration includes services such as film production, event organisation, and educational activities. The Reliance Group has a diverse portfolio and one of them is their entertainment business. The company’s media and entertainment operations are managed by entities such as Network18, Viacom18, and Jio Studios. Reliance also has a partnership with Walt Disney as well.

Their choice? Bungalow, the stylish Indian restaurant opened by Michelin-starred chef Vikas Khanna. The Ambanis were heartily welcomed with flowers and traditional Indian customs, which included lighting diyas. It made the evening feel festive and similar to home.

Chef Khanna gave them a special welcome. Isha and Mukesh Ambani lit traditional diyas, which personify light, celebration, and tradition ahead of Diwali. The restaurant was beautifully decorated with six types of roses, specifically chosen because they’re Isha’s favourites, and sprinkled with sacred water from the Ganga. As a special honor, the Reliance logo was recreated using marigold flowers, honouring the Ambani family.

Vikas Khanna shared pictures from the evening on social media and expressed how privileged he felt. He wrote that it was an honour to host the Ambani family and to celebrate Indian culture in New York.

Bungalow has become talk of the town since its opening in March. It recently received a rare three-star rating from The New York Times, becoming the first Indian restaurant in nearly 25 years to earn such appreciation. Known for mixing rich Indian flavours with a British-style club atmosphere, Bungalow is now a go-to spot for both locals and tourists.

Getting a table at Bungalow is not easy. Reservations used to open just 15 days in advance or can say in advance, and all seats were snapped up within seconds, proving just how in-demand it is.

A culinary tour of India

That evening, the Ambanis enjoyed a specially crafted meal that represented the variety of Indian cuisine, from the north in Kashmir to the south in Kerala. Some of the standout dishes included Goan-style Shrimp Balchao Cones, crispy Sindhi Aloo Tuk, and creamy Yoghurt Kebabs wrapped in Kataifi. Since the Ambani family prefers vegetarian food, Chef Khanna prepared a special selection of plant-based dishes just for them.

The drinks were just as unique. They sipped cocktails like the Kaali Peeli Taxi, infused with turmeric, and Chai Paani, which was inspired by classic Indian masala tea. These drinks added a taste, nostalgic Indian touch to the night.

Mukesh and Isha Ambani’s visit drew attention to how Indian food is now making waves around the world. With Chef Vikas Khanna leading the way, Bungalow is more than just a restaurant, it’s a heartfelt celebration of India’s food, culture, and tradition, right in the heart of New York City.

Meet Mukesh Ambani’s best friend and ‘third son’ of Dhirubhai Ambani, he is the chairman of…, his connection with Dream11 is… https://www.india.com/viral/meet-mukesh-ambanis-best-friend-and-third-son-of-dhirubhai-ambani-he-is-the-chairman-of-jai-corp-limited-his-connection-with-dream11-is-son-harsh-cofounded-7806784/ Thu, 08 May 2025 07:13:32 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7806784 Reliance Industries has made history by becoming the first Indian company to cross a market value of Rs. 20 lakh crore. While much of the credit goes to Mukesh Ambani, the company’s Chairman and Managing Director, such success is rarely achieved alone. Most people know Manoj Modi as Ambani’s closest aide, but there’s another trusted figure who’s played a key role behind the scenes — Anand Jain.

Anand Jain, now the Chairman of Jai Corp Limited, has been a close friend of Mukesh Ambani since childhood. He was often referred by many as the “third son” of Reliance Industries founder Dhirubhai Ambani. The two studied together at Hill Grange High School in Mumbai. When Ambani returned from Stanford University in 1981, Jain, who was already working with Mukesh’s father, Dhirubhai Ambani, decided to leave his business in Delhi and join Reliance.

Jain’s business journey has seen major highs and lows. In 2007, Forbes listed him as the 11th richest Indian with a net worth of around USD 4 billion (about Rs. 33,000 crore at the time), thanks to the rise in value of Jai Corp, which had a market cap of USD 45 billion. But over the years, his wealth saw a sharp dip, and by 2012, it had dropped to USD 525 million (around Rs. 4,350 crore).

Jai Corp, founded in 1985, is active in several industries including steel, plastic, yarn spinning, and real estate. The company has also invested in large infrastructure and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) projects, along with venture capital and real estate across 14 cities in India, with a total of 33 projects under its belt.

Anand Jain’s deep knowledge of real estate, finance, and capital markets has made him a key figure within the Reliance Industries circle. As a long-time strategic advisor to Mukesh Ambani, Jain has been instrumental in managing the group’s major real estate deals and navigating complex capital market operations.

Beyond Reliance

His influence extends beyond Reliance. He has also held positions on the boards of the Mumbai Port Trust and Jawaharlal Nehru Port, contributing his insights to public infrastructure bodies.

Interestingly, despite his strong presence in the company, Anand Jain reportedly doesn’t take a salary from Reliance. Instead, he uses his experience to guide operations, particularly in the telecom arm, Reliance Infocomm.

Anand Jain’s personal life

Away from the business spotlight, Jain leads a quiet life in Mumbai with his wife, Sushma Jain, who is a homemaker. They have two children, Neha and Harsh. Meanwhile, his’s daughter, Neha, is married to Anurag Bagaria, and his son, Harsh Jain along with Bhavit Sheth, co-founded Dream11 — India’s top fantasy sports platform.

Launched in 2008, Dream11 became the first Indian fantasy sports company to reach unicorn status in April 2019. As of October 2023, it had over 200 million users, offering fans a chance to play fantasy versions of cricket, football, baseball, and more — changing the way Indians engage with sports.

He lost 108 kg in 18 months with the support and guidance from his former fitness coach Vinod Channa. The celebrity trainer recently shared whether he will train Junior Ambani again, if asked to.

Celebrity fitness coach Vinod Channa talks about his ex-client Anant Ambani

Anant has been open about his severe health issues and how he battled obesity and asthma. When Vinod started training him, he experienced a massive transformation, dropping 208 kgs to 108 kgs. Vinod, who is currently training Nita Ambani, recently revealed if he will ever guide Anant again for weight loss.

While speaking to BollywoodShaadis, he shared, “Ya 100%. I can do it anytime. I am there all the time. Whenever he starts can reach the target. Compared to other people, there are people who have medical issues. They put on more fat than other people. Har bhar aise body sambhalna mushkil hota hai. You will be tired and want to take some gap.”

Vinod Channa advises to not follow celebrities

Apart from working out, Vinod also advised to follow a healthy diet and asked not to compare themselves with celebrities. “First is breathing, water, weight training, cardio, protein and carbs. Weight zyada hone se there is injury, muscle wear and tear chances honge. Good breathing makes energy higher. Agar haaf rahe hoh toh oxygen level weak hai. Fiber nai hoga toh digest nai kar paoge. Now we drink RO water, but do not get nutrition from the water. Do not compare with celebs as everyone has different genetics and lifestyle.” He said.

Anant is a strict vegetarian, and when asked Vinod whether non-vegetarians could have a better protein content from a vegetarian diet, he replied, “Veg mei, you have to mix and match the things. When making roti, add satu, makhana, and paneer to create a mix and match of protein. Sprouts, pulses, legumes, flaxseed, sattu, mix and match karke, you can create your protein. Operation Sindoor: Wife of Pahalgam victim Shubham Dwivedi reacts to Indian forces’ strike on Pakistan and PoK https://www.india.com/viral/operation-sindoor-wife-of-pahalgam-victim-shubham-dwivedi-reacts-to-indian-forces-strike-on-pakistan-and-pok-muslim-hindu-7803949/ Wed, 07 May 2025 03:36:32 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7803949 In a deeply emotional response to India’s military operation that took place on May 7 in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), Aishanya, wife of Shubham Dwivedi, who lost his life in Pahalgam Terrorist Attack, expressed her sentiments on the strike carried out by Indian forces.

She said, “I want to thank PM Modi for taking revenge for my husband’s death. My entire family had trust in him, and the way he replied (to Pakistan), he has kept our trust alive. This is the real tribute to my husband. Wherever my husband is, he will be at peace today.”

Meanwhile, Shubham’s father Sanjay Dwivedi, said that the move made by the Indian Army instilled a sense of faith in the country’s government.

“I am continuously watching the news. I salute the Indian army and thank PM Modi, who listened to the pain of the country’s people. The way the Indian military has destroyed the terrorism that is flourishing in Pakistan, I thank our military for that… My entire family has been feeling light since we heard this news…” the father said.

Another relative Manoj Dwivedi also said that justice had been finally served to the victims. “On 22nd April, when our child lost his life, we said that a revolution is going to come in our country, and we were sure that PM Modi would take the strictest steps to finish terrorism. I want to thank PM Modi for the real tribute that the Army has given today to our son…” the relative said.

India on Wednesday carried out its deepest strike inside Pakistan’s undisputed borders since the Indo-Pakistan 1971 war. The situation was constantly monitored by Prime Minister Narendra Modi throughout the night, as per sources. All nine targets were successfully struck, sources further added.

Indian forces selected the targets with the intent of eliminating top Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) leaders involved in planning and executing terrorist attacks in India.

India-Pakistan war: Why Indian Army named its strike on Pakistan and PoK ‘Operation Sindoor’? https://www.india.com/viral/india-pakistan-war-why-indian-army-named-its-strike-on-pakistan-and-pok-operation-sindoor-muslim-hindu-7803655/ Wed, 07 May 2025 03:05:42 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7803655 On Wednesday, May 7, the Indian Armed Forces launched ‘Operation Sindoor’, carrying out precision strikes on nine terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), two weeks after the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, which killed 26 people, including one Nepali citizen.

IAF has hit the terrorist infrastructure from where the terrorist attacks against India have been planned or directed. The Indian forces had selected the location for strikes with the intent of targeting top Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar leadership for their role in sponsoring terrorist activities in India.

WHY OPERATION SINDOOR?

The name carries a message in itself. The mission is called Operation Sindoor, symbolising solidarity with Hindu married women who were widowed in the Pahalgam terror attack. ‘Sindoor’ refers to the vermilion traditionally worn by married Hindu women. Apart from Hindu women, sindoor is also worn by the warriors before going to war.

The attack in Pahalgam took place, killing the Hindu men. They were singled out based on their religion and killed by terrorists.

Indian Army issued a statement early morning saying, “A little while ago, the Indian Armed Forces launched OPERATION SINDOOR, hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed. Altogether, nine sites have been targeted”.

“Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and method of execution,” the statement said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi constantly monitored the Operation Sindoor throughout the night.

How Taj Mahal became the target in 1971 India-Pakistan war and how it disappeared https://www.india.com/viral/how-taj-mahal-became-the-target-in-1971-india-pakistan-war-and-how-it-disappeared-7802745/ Tue, 06 May 2025 14:01:52 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7802745 The 1971 Indo-Pakistani War, also known as the Bangladesh Liberation War, was a military conflict between India and Pakistan that took place from December 3 to 16, 1971. The conflict was triggered by the Bangladesh Liberation War, where East Pakistan sought independence from West Pakistan. India intervened on the side of East Pakistan, leading to a swift Indian victory and the creation of Bangladesh.

And as expected, the Pakistan was targeting all the beautiful assets of India. When Pakistani jets bombed Agra’s airbase, Indian authorities feared the next strike could hit the Taj Mahal — a direct blow to national morale. To shield it from enemy pilots, officials launched a daring plan: hide one of the world’s most recognizable monuments in plain sight.

The gleaming white dome was covered in coarse green jute cloth, dyed to match the earth below—making the Taj vanish into the terrain.

Twigs, branches, and shrubs were layered over the monument, breaking its iconic silhouette and mimicking a wild landscape from above.

Every lamp and floodlight around the Taj went dark. Without its glow, the monument disappeared into the night sky, invisible to bombers.

This happened during the 1971 Indo-Pak War—when India feared airstrikes on cultural landmarks and responded with remarkable creativity.

Tourists were turned away, and security was tightened. For 15 tense days, the Taj stood silent—shrouded, guarded, and closed to the world.

Similar tactics were used across India—Red Fort and Jaisalmer Fort were disguised or protected to avoid becoming symbols of destruction.

The Taj was never hit. Its wartime vanishing act is now a legendary example of cultural preservation under fire.

India’s first billionaire gave Queen Elizabeth II a necklace with 300 diamonds for her…, it was worth Rs…, his name was…no connection with Mukesh Ambani, Ratan Tata https://www.india.com/viral/indias-first-billionaire-hyderabad-nizam-gave-queen-elizabeth-ii-a-necklace-with-300-diamonds-for-her-wedding-it-was-worth-66-million-his-name-was-mir-osman-ali-khan-no-connection-with-mukesh-am-7802090/ Tue, 06 May 2025 09:18:10 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7802090 In a time when billionaires were almost unheard of, Mir Osman Ali Khan, the last Nizam of Hyderabad, stood out as India’s first billionaire. His wealth in the 1940s was estimated to be around Rs. 1,700 crore—a huge sum back then. He was known not only for his riches but also for his close relationship with the British, earning the title “Faithful Ally of the British Crown” for helping financially during World War I.

One of his most memorable acts of generosity was a wedding gift to Queen Elizabeth II when she married Prince Philip in 1947. Unable to attend the ceremony himself, the Nizam asked the luxury jeweller Cartier to let the young princess pick any piece she liked. Elizabeth chose a dazzling necklace and a tiara, both sparkling with diamonds and designed with a touch of English rose inspiration.

It is believed that she sat down with Cartier to design it after they were given strict instructions to let her creativity run wild. She selected each intricate detail to ensure they were to her liking. The necklace, crafted in 1935, features nearly 300 diamonds, all set in platinum, and showcases a unique floral design with geometric touches. Before she became queen, Elizabeth wore the necklace in an official portrait that remains iconic today.

The late Queen Elizabeth II was known for an keen eye for jewellery and curated an extensive enough to be shared among Royal Family members, securely housed within the Royal Collection.

Jewellery expert Hugh Roberts, in his book The Queen’s Diamonds, noted that the necklace’s original design was slightly different. It once had more diamond drops, which were later removed to create a head ornament. The final version of the necklace came together in 1936.

Years later, in 2014, Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, wore this historic necklace for a special appearance at the National Portrait Gallery. She styled it with a beautiful ink-blue gown by Jenny Packham, giving the royal heirloom a modern touch while carrying forward its rich history.

According to Daena Borrowman, Marketing Manager at Jewellerybox, the Nizam of Hyderabad Necklace is believed to be the most valuable royal necklace in the world, with an estimated worth of over £66 million (i.e. Rs. 694 crore in today’s time). Speaking to The Mirror, she highlighted the necklace’s historical and monetary significance, calling it a remarkable wedding gift to Princess Elizabeth from the Nizam of Hyderabad, who was once among the wealthiest individuals on the planet.

On July 21, 2022 the official Instagram account of The Royal Family shared a special post featuring the Nizam of Hyderabad Necklace—a treasured piece from the royal jewellery collection. The post included two images of Queen Elizabeth II wearing the dazzling diamond and platinum necklace, along with a close-up shot showing its intricate craftsmanship. The final photo highlighted Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, wearing the same necklace, showcasing how it continues to be cherished by the royal family across generations.

The first image was a historic portrait of the Queen taken just days after she ascended the throne in February 1952. Dressed in a Hartnell satin evening gown and adorned with the Order of the Garter insignia, this portrait became one of the most iconic representations of Her Majesty and was later used as the basis for her image on postage stamps.

]]> Will UK return Kohinoor diamond to India? British minister says, ‘We have been talking…’ https://www.india.com/viral/will-uk-return-kohinoor-diamond-to-india-british-minister-says-we-have-been-talking-over-cultural-artefacts-7802255/ Tue, 06 May 2025 08:59:38 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7802255 The United Kingdom is having discussions with India to explore shared access to cultural artefacts, according to Lisa Nandy, the country’s Secretary of State for Culture, Media, and Sport. Nandy responded to a question about India’s request for the return of the Kohinoor diamond.

The 108-carat Kohinoor presented to Queen Victoria in 1849 by Maharajah Duleep Singh, was later worn by the Queen Mother on her crown in 1937.

“We have been talking between the UK and India for quite some time about the way that we think we can collaborate much more closely together to make sure that people both in the UK and in India can benefit from and have access to many of the cultural artefacts that stem back to the very different era. This is something that I’ve discussed with my counterpart,” Nandy told ANI news agency.

During her visit to Delhi, Nandy also focused on strengthening partnership between the UK and India across creative, cultural, and sporting domains.

“In the arts and creative industries, Britain and India lead the world and I look forward to this agreement opening up fresh opportunities for collaboration, innovation and economic growth for our artists, cultural institutions and creative businesses,” Nandy was quoted as saying in a press release by the UK’s Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).

The UK-India Programme of Cultural Cooperation is aimed at enhancing two-way cultural exchanges through the arts and heritage and encouraging long-term partnerships between creative businesses and cultural institutions in both countries.

It will include the UK working with India to support best practices and expertise on heritage conservation, museum management and digitisation of collections.

Implementation of the new pact will involve the British Council in India and the Indian Ministry of Culture, with participation from major UK cultural institutions including Arts Council England, the British Library, the British Museum, the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum Group and the V&A Museum.
