New Delhi: Neeraj Chopra, a two-time Olympic medalist in javelin throw, will participate in the Ostrava Golden Spike athletics meet in the Czech Republic on June 24th. This will be his third attempt at the competition, having withdrawn from the previous two due to injuries.

JioHotstar, India's largest streaming platform, has achieved over 200 million paid subscribers. It became the third-largest video streaming service globally after Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. This rapid growth is mainly because of its cheap pricing and also a multi-language live coverage of the IPL.

The announcement was made by Uday Shankar, Vice Chairman of JioStar. After the joint venture was formed between Reliance Industries Ltd and Walt Disney Co. bow they operate the JioHotstar platform.

"This makes us one of the largest streaming services in the world," Shankar said. Reaching 200 million paid users in such a short time was "deeply satisfying," he added.

Global Streaming Rankings

JioHotstar is now at the third position globally, just behind Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. The competition among these platforms has grown in India's rapidly expanding OTT market.

While JioHotstar majorly gained subscribers due to sports events like the IPL, its competitors may also plan different strategies to deal with this new challenge. Netflix is already investing in Indian original content, and Amazon Prime Video is also partnering with platforms like Apple TV+ and Crunchyroll.

According to Shankar, the company's goal is to bring every potential streaming viewer in India onto its platform.

"Our ambition is to reach every potential customer in the country," he added that Jio wants both reach and content diversity. This approach was changed after the Disney-Reliance media merger named as JioHotstar.

As JioHotstar will stream in India with its affordable pricing, engaging sports content in upcoming years. So competition among Mukesh Ambani's company and global players like Netflix and Prime Video will be seen soon.

BMW has launched the Z4 M40i Pure Impulse Edition in India, now available with a six-speed manual transmission for the first time. Offered as a Completely Built-Up (CBU) unit, this edition is priced at INR 97.90 lakh for the manual variant and INR 96.90 lakh for the automatic (ex-showroom).

Buyers can choose between the newly developed manual transmission and the 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic. The manual unit has been specifically tuned for the 3.0-litre inline-six engine, which delivers 340 hp and 500 Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is claimed at 4.6 seconds for the manual and 4.5 seconds for the automatic version.

This edition introduces two new paint options Frozen Deep Green and Sanremo Green. It also debuts a staggered wheel setup on the Z4, with 19-inch front and 20-inch rear alloy wheels. Red M Sport brake calipers, black mirror caps, and extended Shadowline trims are part of the visual changes.

The manual variant features Cognac Vernasca leather upholstery with contrast stitching, available exclusively in this edition. The cabin includes electrically adjustable seats with memory, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and additional storage elements for improved practicality.

Infotainment is powered by BMW's Live Cockpit Professional, which includes twin 10.25-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, and USB ports. Optional features include Parking Assistant, Driving Assistant, a Harman Kardon sound system, and a head-up display.

Performance hardware includes Adaptive M suspension, M Sport brakes, and an M Sport differential. Safety equipment includes multiple airbags, ABS, Brake Assist, Dynamic Stability Control, and other standard features. New Delhi: Star Indian cricketer Virat Kohli has jokingly hinted that he could come out of retirement from T20 internationals, but with a twist. After India's victory in the T20 World Cup final against South Africa in Barbados, Kohli announced his retirement from the format.

However, in a playful comment, Kohli suggested he might return for one game if India makes it to the final of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics men's cricket tournament. For those unaware, cricket will return to the Olympic Games after 128 years at the 2028 Summer Olympics.

New Delhi: JioHotstar, the newly formed joint venture between Viacom18 and Star India, was launched recently following the merger of JioCinema and Disney+ Hotstar. According to the company, the latest platform will bring nearly 3 lakh hours of entertainment and live sports coverage to its 500 million users. However, it is important to note that the free streaming of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will no longer be available.

As per a Reuters report, JioStar will only offer a limited portion of IPL matches for free, with users being allowed to watch a few minutes before being directed to a subscription page. The subscription plans will start at Rs 149, and fans will need to pay to access the full match after the free minutes expire.

JioCinema had been offering free streaming of IPL matches since acquiring the broadcasting rights for five years, starting in 2023, for USD 3 billion. However, with the launch of JioStar in 2025, fans will now need a subscription to watch the entire tournament.

"What sets JioHotstar apart is its elevated streaming experience featuring ultra-HD 4K streaming, AI-powered insights, real-time stats overlays, multi-angle viewing and range of 'culture' and 'special interest' feeds ensuring fans enjoy deeper, more immersive access to the sports they love," the company in an official release.

JioCinema and Disney Hoststar merger

The change in plan came after Mukesh Ambani's Reliance and Walt Disney merged their India media assets in an USD 8.5 billion deal last year. According to reports, the platform's subscription model will kick in once users become loyal to the platform after enjoying the free content. Each user may start their subscription at different times, the sources said, though they remained anonymous due to the confidentiality of the plans.

JioHotstar subscription plans

JioHotstar will offer a basic subscription plan starting at Rs 149, while an ad-free version will be available for Rs 499 for three months. The platform will host major sporting events, including ICC tournaments, IPL, WPL, and grassroots cricket leagues like the Indian Street Premier League. Apart from cricket, JioHotstar will also feature the Premier League, Wimbledon, Pro Kabaddi, and ISL.
