Rishi Kapoor

Rishi Kapoor, an Indian actor, director and producer who worked predominantly in the Hindi film industry, passed away on April 30, 2020 at the age of 67. His first on screen appearance was in 1955 at the age of two in the song Pyar Hua Iqrar Hua from the movie Shree 420. Then in 1970 he made his proper debut with Mera Naam Joker for which he won the National Film Award for Best Child Artist.

Rishi Kapoor had featured in over 150 movies from the year 1970 to 2020, and had won a number of awards for his performances. Among them, the Filmfare Award for Best Actor for his role in the 1973 movie Bobby, and then the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor for his role in 2010 movie Do Dooni Chaar.

PERSONAL LIFE:

Rishi Kapoor was born as Rishi Raj Kapoor on September 4, 1952 in Chembur, Bombay to late well-known actor-director Raj Kapoor and Krishna Raj Kapoor. His brothers and sisters included Randhir Kapoor, Ritu Kapoor Nanda, Rima Jain, and Rajiv Kapoor, and he was also the grandson of actor Prithviraj Kapoor. He studied at the Campion School in Mumbai and then Mayo College but is said to have dropped out.

Rishi Kapoor married actress Neetu Singh on January 22, 1980 and he had two children with her - Riddhima Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor.

ILLNESS AND DEATH:

Rishi Kapoor was diagnosed with bone marrow cancer in 2018 and he had gone to the US for treatment, spending almost a year in New York City. Following the treatment, he returned to India on September 26, 2019, and had started filming for movie Sharmaji Namkeen.

On April 29, 2020, he is said to have complained of having difficulty in breathing and was admitted to the HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai, but passed away on April 30, 2020.
