KKR players Sunil Narine and Anrich Nortje failed 'bat tests' in IPL. The Narine incident came first. The Nortje incident took place at the start of the 16th over of KKR's innings. The game was paused as substitute Rahmanullah Gurbaz came out carrying spare bats for Nortje. The replacement bat passed the test.
In past bats were checked in dressing rooms in IPL. According to the rules, the width of the bat face should not exceed 10.79cm, the thickness of the blade shouldn't be more than 6.7cm, and the width of the edge of the bat cannot be more than 4cm. The length of the bat should not exceed 96.4cm.
MI captain Hardik Pandya's bat was also checked during the IPL 2025 match against Delhi Capitals in New Delhi on Sunday.
Sunil Narine was dismissed for 5 vs PBKS after claiming 2/14 with the ball at New Chandigarh.
Anrich Nortje was making a comeback into IPL from injury. In his first match for KKR, Nortje claimed 1/23.
