Contrary to popular belief, Ambati Rayudu revealed that Virat Kohli had nothing to do with him getting dropped. "What Uthappa was trying to say is that Kohli has strong likes and dislikes. But in my case, Kohli was the one who backed me. He liked me. When I was there at his captaincy, we played many games for India," Rayudu said.
Ambati Rayudu said that Virat Kohli had bought him back to the team. "He (Kohli) understands the struggle because he as well is from a humble background and has played tremendous cricket. It is never easy to excel as a batter coming from Delhi," Rayudu said Kohli.
Tamil Nadu duo of Dinesh Karthik and Vijay Shankar were picked ahead of Ambati Rayudu in 2019 ODI World Cup.
Robin Uthappa claimed that Virat Kohli showed favouritism in his captaincy during his stint as skipper of Team India.
Robin Uthappa claimed that if Virat Kohli didn't like anyone they were cut. ""If he (Virat Kohli) didn't like anyone, he didn't feel someone was good, then they were cut. (Ambati) Rayudu is the prime example. You feel bad," Uthappa said in an interview.
