In this series of images, we will explore the Indian players who have received the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year award since it began in 2004.
Jasprit Bumrah becomes the sixth Indian player to receive the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year honor. Before Bumrah, several prominent figures from Indian cricket have earned this prestigious accolade.
Rahul Dravid was the first Indian to claim the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year title in 2004. In 2024, Dravid accumulated 946 runs from 18 Test innings, averaging 63, with two centuries and four half-centuries.
Gautam Gambhir was awarded the ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the Year in 2009. He accumulated 727 runs in five Test matches that year, with an impressive average of 90.87. His total included four centuries and one half-century.
Virender Sehwag claimed the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year Award in 2010 after accumulating 1422 runs in 14 Test matches, averaging 61.82. He registered five centuries and eight half-centuries that year. His top score in 2010 was 173 runs off 199 balls, achieved against New Zealand in Ahmedabad.
Ravichandran Ashwin was honored with the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year Award in 2016. He took 72 wickets in 12 Test matches, with an average of 23.90. In addition to his exceptional bowling, Ashwin also scored 612 runs with the bat at an average of 43.71, including two centuries and four half-centuries.
Virat Kohli was awarded the ICC Men's Test Cricketer of the Year title in 2018. He accumulated 1322 runs in Test matches that year, with an average of 55.08, showcasing exceptional batting performances during India's tours of England and South Africa.
