Kagiso Rabada, who featured for Punjab Kings in the last season, was acquired by Gujarat Titans for a significant Rs 10.75 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
"Gujarat Titans pacer Kagiso Rabada has returned to South Africa from the ongoing season of the IPL due to some personal reasons. The South Africa international was a part of Gujarat Titans’ first two matches of the IPL 2025. Kagiso Rabada has returned to South Africa to deal with an important personal matter," Gujarat Titans said in a statement.
The South African fast bowler made his debut for Gujarat Titans in a match against Punjab Kings, where he took 1/41 in four overs. He followed that up with 1/42 in a game against Mumbai Indians. However, he was absent during Gujarat Titans' victory over Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
When approached, Gujarat Titans refrained from sharing specific details regarding Kagiso Rabada's unexpected exit. The franchise also did not disclose any estimated timeline for the return of the South African fast bowler.
With two victories from three matches, Shubman Gill's Gujarat Titans sit in fourth place on the IPL 2025 points table. Their next match will be against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 6 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
