KKR bowler Varun Chakravarthy was fined 25 per cent of match fees by BCCI and handed one demerit point. "Varun Chakaravarthy, Bowler, Kolkata Knight Riders has been fined 25 per cent of his match fees and has also accumulated One Demerit Point for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team's match against Chennai Super Kings at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday," said the media statement from IPL.
Varun Chakravarthy claimed 2/18 in 4 overs vs CSK in Kolkata. He was retained for Rs 12 crore before the IPL 2025 mega auction last year.
Varun Chakravarthy was fined because of his aggressive send-off to CSK batter Dewald Brevis after dismissing him. “Varun Chakaravarthy admitted to the Level 1 offence under Article 2.5 and accepted the Match Referee’s sanction," the IPL statement read.
KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane's knock of 48 went in vain. He smashed the runs off 33 balls as KKR had posted 179 for 6 after batting first vs CSK.
CSK skipper MS Dhoni guided his side to 3rd win of IPL 2025 season. Dhoni remained unbeaten on 17 as CSK won with 2 balls to spare.
CSK's Dewald Brevis smashed a brillaint 50 off 22 balls, ending up with 52 to power his side's win against KKR at the Eden Gardens on Wednesday.
