In the early hours of Wednesday, the Indian Army launched Operation Sindoor, hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed, said an official statement from the Ministry of Defence.

Indian Armed Forces successfully struck nine terror targets, four in Pakistan, including Bahawalpur, Muridke, and Sialkot, and five in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), using special precision munitions in a coordinated operation, sources told ANI.

The operation was jointly carried out by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, with the mobilisation of assets and troops. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was constantly monitoring Operation Sindoor throughout the night, sources confirmed to ANI.

The strikes on all nine targets were successful, sources further revealed. The Indian forces selected the locations to target top Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) leaders involved in sponsoring terrorist activities in India.

1. Markaz Subhan Allah, Bahawalpur (Pakistan)

It was operational since 2015 in a 15-acre facility as the headquarters of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM). It is a hub for training and radicalization, directly linked to the Pulwama terror attack on February 14, 2019. It was home for JeM leaders like Maulana Masood Azhar, Mufti Abdul Rauf Asghar, and Maulana Ammar, and is known for providing arms and physical training to cadres.

2. Markaz Taiba, Muridke (Pakistan)

It is located in Nangal Sahdan and Lashkar-e-Taiba’s (LeT) training center. It was established in 2000, and trains over 1,000 operatives annually. It was also funded partly by Osama bin Laden for advanced training infrastructure. It played a big role in preparing the 26/11 Mumbai attackers like Ajmal Kasab. Conspirators like David Headley and Tahawwur Rana also visited this site many times.

3. Sarjal/Tehra Kalan Launching Facility, Narowal (Pakistan)

A Primary Health Centre (PHC), located just 6 km from the International Border in the Samba sector. It trains terrorists to infiltrate into Jammu & Kashmir and is used for digging cross-border tunnels and launching drones.

4. Mehmoona Joya Facility, Sialkot (Pakistan)

Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) operates this facility from a government school and focuses on infiltration and weapon training for cadres entering the Jammu region. HM commander Mohd. Irfan Khan also known as Irfan Tanda has 20–25 active terrorists at a time.

5. Markaz Ahle Hadith, Barnala (PoJK)

This is a LeT center made to infiltrate terrorists and smuggle arms into the Poonch-Rajouri-Reasi sector. The site can accommodate 100–150 terrorists and is operated by key LeT leaders like Qasim Gujjar, Qasim Khanda, and Anas Jarar.

6. Markaz Abbas, Kotli (PoJK)

This facility is handled by Hafiz Abdul Shakoor alias Qari Zarrar who is also a close associate of Mufti Abdul Rauf Asghar. With the capacity to house 100–125 cadres, it is a base for planning infiltration and conducting terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir.

7. Maskar Raheel Shahid, Kotli (PoJK)

One of Hizbul Mujahideen’s oldest and most active camps, this facility trains 150–200 terrorists at a time. It has standard arms and physical drills and also advanced sniper, Border Action Team (BAT), and survival training.

8. Shawai Nallah Camp, Muzaffarabad (PoJK)

Also known as Bait-ul-Mujahideen, this LeT camp is linked to the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, it provides Daura-e-Aam training, which is religious indoctrination and arms handling. Pakistani ISI and Army personnel also provide weapons training here. The site accommodates 200–250 cadres and a launch base for infiltrations into North Kashmir.

9. Markaz Syedna Bilal, Muzaffarabad (PoJK)

This JeM camp, located opposite the Red Fort in Muzaffarabad and a transit base for infiltration into Jammu & Kashmir. It has 50–100 cadres at time and is led by Mufti Asghar Khan Kashmiri.
