India-Pakistan war: Pathankot airbase remains unharmed

India – Pakistan war: In a major relief, no damage has been reported to the Pathankot airbase amid India – Pakistan tensions. On the evening of Thursday (May 8, 2025), multiple loud explosions rocked the Pathankot airbase. Following the explosions, there was a complete blackout in the area. The explosion comes a day after India conducted strikes on nine terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Following the incidents in Jammu, explosions were also heard in parts of Punjab, with reports of Pakistani shelling targeting areas in Pathankot and Jammu & Kashmir’s Kupwara and other sectors.

According to sources, India was well-prepared to give a befitting reply to such attempts made by Pakistan and were ready to thwart them. Although the situation is still developing, officials stated that the threats have been neutralized, and so far, eight projectiles — primarily surface-to-surface missiles — have been intercepted by Indian air defence systems. Appeals were issued asking people to keep their lights switched off and stay at home.

Appeals were issued asking people to keep their lights switched off and stay at home. Meanwhile, officials said schools have also been shut in Amritsar, Gurdaspur and Fazilka districts.
