The Indian Armed Forces also foiled a similar bid at 15 places in the northern and western regions last night as tensions further escalated between the two countries following Operation Sindoor. The effect of India’s tough stand and action against Pakistan is now visible in Bangladesh as well. The situation has become such that the local police have had to issue a separate alert for the safety of the Hindu community.

There is a fear that the anger of India-Pakistan tension may fall on Bangladeshi Hindus. To avoid any riot, Bangladesh Police Headquarters (PHQ) has issued a letter on Wednesday directing police units to ensure the safety of minorities.

Strict Instructions Issued From Police HQ

As per the letter issued by the Bangladesh Police Headquarters, all the police units have been directed to give priority to the security of minority community specially Hindus. The instruction has been issued by the Operations Branch, signed by Additional DIG Shahzada Mohammad Asaduzzaman on behalf of the Inspector General of Police.

Keeping An Eye On Border Areas And Social Media

Authorities have instructed law enforcement to heighten security in border regions to prevent any potential incitement of violence or unrest targeting Hindus. This increased vigilance includes strict monitoring of mobile communications, internet activity, and social media to counter the spread of misinformation and hate speech that could destabilise the nation.

Vigilance To Prevent Riots

All police units have been directed to strictly prevent any kind of sabotage, provocative statements or attempts to incite communal tension in the country. Stringent action will be taken against any sort of conspiracy. The Bangladesh government has clarified that it doesn’t want the law and order and the Hindu community to suffer the consequences of the tension between India and Pakistan.

To preserve national peace and harmony, Bangladesh is taking preventive measures. Given the heightened tensions between India and Pakistan, the government is acting proactively to mitigate the risk of communal violence, a recurring problem in the country’s history.

Operation Sindoor: Were Chinese fighter jets involved in India-Pakistan conflict? Beijing breaks silence https://www.india.com/news/india/operation-sindoor-were-chinese-fighter-jets-involved-in-india-pakistan-conflict-beijing-breaks-silence-7810484/ Fri, 09 May 2025 12:46:42 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7810484 India has taken its revenge for the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 tourists, by striking terror camps in nine locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). As per reports, as many as 100 terrorists were neutralised in these attacks. Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif claimed that the Pakistani army strongly faced the Indian military actions. When asked about the involvement or use of Chinese fighter jets in the India–Pakistan conflict, the Chinese Foreign Ministry has responded to this.

According to a Reuters report, responding to a question that Chinese jets were involved in the India-Pakistan conflict, the Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that it wasn’t aware of the matter. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian was speaking at a daily media briefing in Beijing.

Strange Claim By Pakistani Official

A Pakistani army officer, while talking to CNN, claimed that fighter jets of both countries had a face-off on the night of 7 May. He stated that there was a clash between 125 fighter jets of both countries, which lasted for an hour. However, during the faceoff, fighter jets of both countries crossed the their borders. However, this statement of the Pakistani officer is completely opposite to the statement of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, in which he had said that 80 fighter jets of India had carried out an airstrike in Pakistan, in which many people were killed.

China Was Asked A Question On This

Regarding Pakistan’s claim, China was asked whether any of its fighter jets were involved in the conflict, which it has completely denied. However, it is a fabricated claim of Islamabad because after entering Pakistan and PoK and targeting terrorists, the Indian fighter jets returned immediately to their bases without leaving a blink on Pak radars.

What was Operation Sindoor?

Following the deaths of 26 tourists in Pahalgam, the Indian Army launched Operation Sindoor. The operation, described as retaliatory, targeted terrorist hideouts in Pakistan. Reports claim the destruction of nine hideouts and the killing of over 100 terrorists.

The man said that he spends the rest of his time watching his favourite television shows, listening to podcasts, and browsing the internet. “I’ve become so efficient at my job that I only put in about one real week of work every month. The rest of the time, I’m just watching TV shows, listening to podcasts, or diving into random rabbit holes online,” the man wrote on Reddit.

The Reddit user explained that when he started the work, he faced challenges due to lack of formal education in the field. However, with time, he understood and mastered the work, typing 75 words per minute without making an error and delivering clear reports.

“No one complains. In fact, I’m the top performer at my company. I have the best relationships with clients, I meet all my deadlines, and my work is spotless,” the man said.

Meet Robert Francis Prevost, who steps out as new Pope, succeeds Pope Francis amid… https://www.india.com/news/world/meet-robert-francis-prevost-who-steps-out-as-new-pope-succeeds-pope-francis-amid-7809124/ Fri, 09 May 2025 02:56:29 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7809124 Robert Francis Prevost: In a historic decision, Robert Francis Prevost was elected on Thursday as Pope Leo XIV. With this, he became the first American to ascend the papacy and lead about 1.4 billion Catholics across the world. Thousands of people gathered at St Peter’s Square and cheered after 69-year-old Prevost appeared on the St Peter’s Basilica’s balcony to address them as the new pope. “To all people, wherever they are, to all peoples, to the whole Earth, peace be with you,” Leo XIV said. His speech drew the loud applause of people who gathered at St Peter’s Square. The crowd cheered when Pope Prevost paid tribute to his predecessor Pope Francis, who died last month.

“We still keep in our ears that weak, but always courageous, voice of Pope Francis blessing Rome,” he said.

Who is Robert Francis Prevost?

Robert Francis Prevost was born in Chicago in 1955. His parents were Spanish and Franco-Italian. In the year 1982, Prevost was ordained and after three years he moved to Peru as part of Augustinian mission. For decades he worked with poor people and eventually became the bishop of Chiclayo in Peru. Later, he returned to Rome as prefect of the Dicastery for Bishops in Latin America.

Prevost’s swift ascension to archbishop in January 2023 and appointment as cardinal by Pope Francis in the following months highlights the Pope’s confidence in him. This appointment is interpreted as a move to maintain the current direction of the Catholic Church, suggesting Prevost will continue to implement Pope Francis’ reform initiatives. Prevost’s past actions demonstrate his commitment to Francis’ priorities, including advocacy for migrants, the poor, and environmental protection.

An American By Birth

An American by birth, Prevost has decades of Latin American experience, which reinforces his link to Pope Francis’s legacy.

In a historic decision, Robert Francis Prevost was elected on Thursday as Pope Leo XIV.

His election as Pope showcases influence of Pope Francis on the College of Cardinals. Notably, about 80 percent electors were appointed by Francis.

Vatican spokesperson Matteo Bruni explained that Archbishop Prevost’s selection of the name Leo XIV signifies a commitment to the Church’s social teachings, referencing Pope Leo XIII, known for his advocacy of workers’ rights in the late 1800s.

Elected Amid Global Uncertainty

Leo XIV has been elected as Pope at a time of internal division and global uncertainty. He faces significant challenges including the lingering effects of sexual abuse scandals, the necessity for Church reform, and widespread internal divisions, especially within the US Catholic community.

The newly elected Pope will soon celebrate Mass for the cardinals, lead the Regina Caeli prayer, and address international media. A formal papal inauguration, anticipated within the week, will feature global political and religious dignitaries.

India’s counterattack causes massive destruction in Pakistan, emergency declared in 20 cities: Reports https://www.india.com/news/world/india-pakistan-war-india-counterattack-causes-massive-destruction-in-pakistan-emergency-declared-in-20-cities-reports-7808967/ Fri, 09 May 2025 01:26:46 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7808967 Islamabad: An emergency has been reportedly declared in as many as 20 cities in Pakistan after India struck its major cities, including the capital Islamabad. The Indian Armed Forces on Thursday night successfully thwarted Pakistan’s attempts to attack major military bases with suicide drones and missiles. Islamabad attempted to strike military bases in Jammu, Pathankot, and other places in the northern and western regions of the country, as tensions escalated between both countries. Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also called for an emergency meeting as Indian Armed Forces struck major cities.

Earlier today, Islamabad fired eight missiles at Satwari, Samba, RS Pura and Arnia, which were successfully intercepted by Indian air defence system, defence sources said. According to defence sources, visuals over Jammu remind one of a Hamas-style attack on Israel. Pak Army is operating like Hamas. In April this year, Pak’s intelligence agency ISI and Hamas held a meeting in Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Indian air defence system successfully intercepted Pakistani drones in multiple locations, including Udhampur and Jaisalmer, resulting in explosions and visible flashes. Power outages were implemented in several areas of Rajasthan and Punjab, as well as in Jammu and Kashmir, following these incidents. Pakistan launched loitering munitions attacks on Jammu, prompting retaliatory fire from Indian air defences. This escalation follows India’s Operation Sindoor, a response to a terror attack in Pahalgam, which involved precision strikes on Pakistani targets.

On Wednesday, the Indian armed forces had conducted precise strikes on nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. The operation was named – ‘Operation Sindoor’.

India also cleared that any attack on its military installations will invite a suitable reply. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, during a media briefing on Wednesday, stated that

At a media briefing on Thursday Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that Pakistan’s escalatory actions are being met with a proportionate response.

“The original escalation was by Pakistan on the 22nd of April. We are the ones who are responding to that escalation with the action that was taken yesterday morning. And again, I would like to emphasize that the action was restrained; it was directed towards non-civilian, non-military targets; and confined to terrorist camps. And again, as we’ve been saying since yesterday, any further action by Pakistan, some of which we are seeing today is nothing but escalation by Pakistan now, once again, and will be responded to and is being responded to appropriately,” he said.

Can India’s missile defence system stop Pakistan’s nuclear attack? Can it reduce…. https://www.india.com/news/india/can-indias-missile-defence-system-stop-pakistans-nuclear-attack-can-it-reduce-7808365/ Thu, 08 May 2025 18:42:53 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7808365 After failing to attack 15 Indian cities, Pakistan on Thursday evening launched a missile and suicide drone attack on parts of Jammu and Kashmir and military bases in a massive escalation. The border areas along the Line of Control and the International Border witnessed heavy shelling, while Jammu faced air strikes by Pakistan fighter jets and drones. Meanwhile, Indian Armed Forces reportedly shot down three fighter jets of Pakistan when they attempted to attack Jammu. As per reports, India neutralised three Pakistani fighter jets, including a US-made F-16 fighter jet. Two JF-17s were also shot down as Islamabad retaliated after Operation Sindoor. Earlier, several leaders of Pakistan threatened India with using nuclear weapons if it conducted any retaliatory attack. Let us know whether the missile defence system can also stop a nuclear attack?

Can Missiles Stop Nuclear Attacks

Whenever there is a mention of the possibility of a nuclear attack in the world, it becomes important to ask how much power countries have to prevent it. India and Pakistan are both nuclear-rich countries. How much can a country’s missile defence system prevent a nuclear attack, or how much can it reduce its impact. Let us talk about India’s missile defence system and how much it can prevent a nuclear attack from a country like Pakistan.

India and Pakistan are both nuclear-rich countries, and both have several small and large nuclear warheads. Amid escalating tension between both countries, it is possible that one of it could use a nuclear weapon if tensions escalate. The question arises that just like the Indian missile defence system thwarted several missile attacks by Pakistan, can they also neutralise a nuclear warhead.

Missiles Near India

Notably, India has a four-level air defence system to prevent nuclear attack. The air defence system is capable of identifying and responding to threats coming from different heights and distances. India’s Agni-5 missile can attack with a range of 5 to 8 km from the ground. Notably, New Delhi is mostly dependent on Russia for weapons, as Western countries have refrained from giving missile technology to India. However, India and France have been working together on several missile technologies.

Will Missiles Stop Nuclear Attack?

India is one of the few countries that has an anti-ballistic missile system. The Indian missile defence system has two types of missiles – first is Prithvi and the second is Advanced Air Defence system. While Prithvi is capable of stopping areal attack at high altitude, Advanced Air Defense is effective in stopping low-altitude attacks.

India possesses a range of missiles, both conventional and nuclear, capable of intercepting ballistic missiles launched from distances up to 5,000 km. While a complete defence against nuclear attack is impossible, ongoing technological advancements and diplomatic efforts are crucial for enhancing national security.

India shoots down Pakistan’s US-made F-16 fighter jet — is it better than India’s Rafale or… https://www.india.com/news/india/india-shoots-down-pakistans-us-made-f-16-fighter-jet-is-it-better-than-indias-rafale-or-7808035/ Thu, 08 May 2025 16:10:13 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7808035 Rafale vs F-16: Indian Armed Forces reportedly shot down three fighter jets of Pakistan when they attempted to attack Jammu on Thursday evening. As per reports, India neutralised three Pakistani fighter jets, including a US-made F-16 fighter jet. Two JF-17s were also shot down as Islamabad retaliated after Operation Sindoor. During Operation Sindoor, Indian Armed Forces used French-made Rafale jets to destroy nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir. The jets were equipped with Scalp missiles and HAMMER precision bombs. The Rafale fighter jets performed the operation successfully and returned to their bases.

In retaliation Pakistan on Thursday evening attempted to target military and civilian sites in Jammu, RS Pura, Chani Himat, and surrounding areas. India’s advanced air defence systems, including S-400 and Akash systems, successfully intercepted the Pakistani missiles and drones.

As per initial details, Indian Armed Forces has destroyed 8 drone or missiles attempted to attack Jammu.

Indian air defences also successfully repelled an attempted incursion by a Pakistani F-16 fighter jet that launched from Sargodha and approached Jammu.

Rafale vs F-16: Which Is Better in War

Electronics and Weapons

The French-made Rafale jets have a low radar signature because of their semi-stealth airframe. These fighter jets are also loaded with advanced AESA radar (RBE2-AA).

Indian Rafale fighter jets, armed with Scalp (Storm Shadow) missiles and Hammer bombs, boast thirteen unique enhancements. These upgrades, reported by India Today, include the Meteor Beyond-Visual-Range (BVR) missile, advanced electronic warfare capabilities, and improved radar and communication systems. The aircraft’s SPECTRA electronic warfare suite is considered the most advanced in the Rafale fleet, enabling active jamming, threat detection, radar decoy deployment, and the neutralization of enemy radars and surface-to-air missiles.

  • Indian Rafale fighter jets boast advanced radar capabilities, detecting up to 40 targets from 145 kilometers.
  • The Rafale’s radar system can disrupt and mimic enemy radar signals, potentially hindering the effectiveness of aircraft such as the Pakistani F-16.
  • The jets utilise the X-Guard fibre-optic towed decoy system as a countermeasure against air-to-air and surface-to-air missiles.
  • The combination of advanced radar and decoy systems significantly enhances the Rafale’s survivability in combat scenarios.
  • These features distinguish the Indian Rafale fleet from other fighter jets in the region.

Capability of F-16

Pakistan’s F-16 fighter jets are armed with AIM-120C5 AMRAAM missiles and JDAM guided bombs.

F-16 or Rafale, Which is better?

When both the fighter jets are compared, there is no doubt that India’s Rafale is a better fighter jet. Although the AMRAAM of Pakistan’s F-16 initially created concerns for the Indian Army, but after the arrival of Rafale, loaded with BVR missiles, completely changed the game.

India’s Rafale fighter jets are loaded with a significant advantage over Pak’s F-16s in beyond-visual-range combat. The Rafale’s Meteor missile are capable of targeting a longer range (120 km) target than the F-16’s AMRAAM missile that has a range of only 100 km, creating a larger “no-escape zone” for the Rafale. The longer range capability makes it more difficult for an F-16 to evade a Meteor missile.

The Rafale’s superior electronics, stealth capabilities, and advanced radar system give it a major advantage over the F-16, particularly in long-range engagements. While the F-16 excels in close-quarters combat due to its agility, closing the distance against the Rafale presents a considerable challenge.

According to the initial report, F-16 was shot down after it attempted to strike Jammu Airport. The Indian Army conducted out swift retaliatory action.

Indian air defence systems successfully intercepted and neutralised Pakistani drones near Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, shortly after similar incidents in Jammu. The heightened security situation along the India-Pakistan border, encompassing Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, and Rajasthan, necessitates continued high alert by Indian forces to prevent further attacks on military and civilian targets.

Meanwhile, a complete blackout has been imposed in several districts, including Jammu, RS Pura, Amritsar, Poonch, Jaisalmer, and other areas near the international border as a precautionary measure.

Operation Sindoor: India’s action causes more trouble for this country than for Pakistan due to…, the country is… https://www.india.com/news/india/operation-sindoor-indias-action-causes-more-trouble-for-this-country-than-for-pakistan-due-to-the-country-is-7807939/ Thu, 08 May 2025 15:30:28 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7807939 New Delhi: Indian Armed Forces successfully thwarted Pakistan’s attempts to target major military installations in different locations in India, the Ministry of Defence informed on Thursday. During the Ministry of External Affairs press briefing, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi informed that Islamabad attempted a large-scale drone and missile attack in military installations located in Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Bathinda, Adampur, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai and Bhuj, which was thwarted successfully. She also said that an Air Defence system at Lahore was neutralised during the military response.

Operation Sindoor

On Wednesday night, Pakistan tried to launch missile and drone attacks on several Indian military bases located in Punjab, Haryana, Jammu and Kashmir, Gujarat and Rajasthan. The Indian air defence system foiled all the attacks. As per the Defence Ministry, Pak tried to launch missile and drone attacks on military bases in Avantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Ludhiana, Bathinda, Adampur, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai and Bhuj, which were destroyed in the air by the Indian Army.

India’s integrated air defense system, including S-400 and Akash missiles, successfully repelled a Pakistani attack. In retaliation, the Indian Army targeted and disabled multiple Pakistani air defense systems, including those in Lahore. This action follows a pattern of recent unprovoked ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the Line of Control, involving artillery and mortar fire in several areas.

Questions Raised On China’s Defence System

Pakistan’s military is dependent on Chinese-supplied weaponry, including the HQ-9 air defence system and J-17 fighter jets. While Pakistan’s defence minister discussed using J-17s against India, China denied knowledge of such plans. Reports indicate the HQ-9 system failed to detect an Indian missile strike, allegedly suffering damage during subsequent Indian retaliatory action. This incident has renewed concerns about the effectiveness of Chinese-made fighter aircraft and air defence systems.

A report indicates that China supplies over 80 percent of Pakistan’s weaponry. Recent Indian military actions have cast doubt on both the effectiveness of Chinese defence technology and the preparedness of the Pakistani military. This incident has prompted China to urge both nations to show restraint, highlighting a perceived discrepancy between China’s claims of advanced defence capabilities and the reality demonstrated by the events. The situation represents a significant setback for both China and Pakistan.

During the Ministry of External Affairs press briefing, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi informed that Islamabad attempted a large-scale drone and missile attack on several military installations across northern and western India during the night of May 7–8, which was thwarted successfully. She also said that an Air Defence system at Lahore was neutralised during the military response.

Colonel Qureshi added that India’s Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and Air Defence systems destroyed drones and missiles successfully.

In response to the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed 26 lives, the Indian Armed Forces initiated “Operation Sindoor” on Wednesday.

“This morning, the Indian Armed Forces targeted Air Defence Radars and systems at a number of locations in Pakistan. Indian response has been in the same domain with same intensity as Pakistan. It has been reliably learnt that an Air Defence system at Lahore has been neutralised,” she said.

Speaking about Wednesday’s press briefing on ‘Operation Sindoor’, Colonel Qureshi said, “During the press briefing on operation Sindoor on 07 May 2025, India had called its response as focused, measured and non-escalatory. It was specifically mentioned that Pakistani military establishments had not been targeted. It was also reiterated that any attack on military targets in India will invite a suitable response.”

“On the night of 07-08 May 2025, Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles. These were neutralised by the Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems. The debris of these attacks is now being recovered from a number of locations that prove the Pakistani attacks,” Colonel Qureshi said.

In response to a terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22nd, which claimed 26 lives, the Indian Armed Forces initiated “Operation Sindoor” on Wednesday. This operation involved targeted strikes against nine suspected terrorist camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir.

“Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. India has demonstrated considerable restraint in selection of targets and method of execution, the Ministry of Defence had said.

Following Operation Sindoor, a series of Indian military strikes against alleged terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, the Indian government held an all-party meeting on Thursday to update political leaders on the situation. The operation, conducted Wednesday morning, was a response to the April 22nd Pahalgam terrorist attack.

The central government called an all-party meeting regarding Operation Sindoor at the Parliament Annexe building today. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh briefed political parties about the actions taken by the India on cross-border terrorism.

The crucial meeting on Operation Sindoor was attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Union Minister JP Nadda Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi and other political leaders.

Operation Sindoor decoded: 3 key takeaways from India’s strike on Pak terror https://www.india.com/news/india/operation-sindoor-decoded-3-key-takeaways-from-indias-strike-on-pak-terror-7807672/ Thu, 08 May 2025 13:25:38 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7807672 Operation Sindoor: The Indian Armed Forces – Army, Navy and Air Force – carried out Operation Sindoor on the intervening night of May 6–7, to deliver justice to the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. As per the official statement, the armed forces conducted targeted strikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK). As many as 21 terror camps were destroyed as part of Operation Sindoor. Now, the question arises – what signals did this major military action by India send? Check three takeaways from Operation Sindoor.

First

The major military action by India in response to the Pahalgam terror attack was not just about it. India’s portrayal of Operation Sindoor as a response to terrorism targeting it since 2001 reframed the narrative.

During the press briefing on Wednesday, the officials framed the operation as a response to all terror attacks on India sponsored by Pak since the attack on Parliament in 2001.

Pakistan-based and Pakistan-sponsored terrorist organisations, including the Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba – both UN Security Council-designated terrorist groups – have claimed responsibility for these attacks.

India cited the case of Sajid Mir, a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist involved in the 2008 Mumbai attacks, to illustrate Pakistan’s insufficient legal action against terrorist groups. Pakistan initially claimed Mir was deceased, but later reported his 2022 arrest, ostensibly in response to Financial Action Task Force (FATF) pressure.

Following the Pahalgam attack, the most recent and severe in a series of terrorist attacks, Sindoor launched strikes against the infrastructure of the Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen in Pakistan.

Second

India is aiming on the terrorists camps across the LoC without directly or deliberately targeting the Pak Army.

India’s public statements defending its cross-border strikes into Pakistan reiterate its previous stances from 2016 and 2019: military action will target terrorist infrastructure across the Line of Control and International Border, while avoiding deliberate attacks on conventional military assets.

This characteristic of cross-border military action was clear to the then Foreign Secretary in 2019: a “non-military pre-emptive action… specifically targeted at the JeM camp”.

Six years later, yesterday, the Defence Ministry’s press release asserted the same: “no Pakistani military facilities have been targeted”.

India’s distinction between terrorist infrastructure and Pakistani military assets suggests a strategy to limit potential conflict escalation.

In 2016, the surgical strikes destroyed terror camps in PoK. In 2019, India destroyed camps in undisputed Pakistan across the LoC (Jabba Top, Balakot).

In 2025, Op Sindoor, India hit targets deep inside Pak and PoK.

Third

While destroying terror camps in Pakistan and PoK, India has sent a clear signal that it does not seek full-scale war.

New Delhi has described Operation Sindoor as “focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature”. Which clearly sends signals to Pak that it doesn’t seek full-scale war.

Pakistan’s recent military actions have undermined its ability to deter India and rendered its previous threats less credible. Further Pakistani aggression risks significant escalation and could invite retaliatory strikes against Pakistani military targets by India.

Operation Sindoor: These are the precision guided long range weapons of India capable of…, can destroy… https://www.india.com/news/india/operation-sindoor-these-are-the-precision-guided-long-range-weapons-of-india-capable-of-can-destroy-7807637/ Thu, 08 May 2025 12:20:54 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7807637 New Delhi: The Indian Armed Forces – Amry, Navy and Airforce – carried out Operation Sindoor on the intervening night of May 6-7, to deliver justice to the families of the victims of the Pahalgam terror attack. However, the Indian Armed Forces have not revealed the type of weapon it used in the major military action. As per the official statement, the armed forces conducted targeted strikes on terrorist facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. As many as 21 terror camps across nine locations were destroyed as part of Operation Sindoor.

Yesterday, during the official media briefing, IAF’s helicopter pilot Wing Commander Vyomika Singh stated that the Indian armed forces used niche-technology weapons with carefully selected warheads in order to avoid any possible collateral damage.

In recent years, India’s military has significantly expanded its capabilities with the acquisition of advanced weaponry. This includes a variety of long-range, precision-guided munitions and drones, such as loitering munitions.

HAMMER: The Highly Agile and Manoeuvrable Munition Extended Range (HAMMER) is a air-to-ground precision-guided missile system. It can be loaded in the Rafale fighter aircraft and has a range of up to 70 km. HAMMER can also be fitted to guided systems as well.

Safran, a French aerospace and defense company, has developed the HAMMER weapon system. This versatile system enables precise targeting of various enemy assets during medium-range tactical engagements.

SCALP: The SCALP-EG/Storm Shadow is a stealthy, long-range air-launched cruise missile capable of deep strikes in diverse conditions, including nighttime and inclement weather.

Manufactured by the European multinational MBDA, the missile is capable of hitting a range of 450 km. It is difficult to detect because of its low-flying capability.

METEOR: MBDA’s Meteor missile, a next-generation Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile (BVRAAM), boasts superior performance in challenging electronic warfare conditions. Its solid-fuel ramjet motor maintains thrust throughout the flight, resulting in an unparalleled “no-escape zone” for targets.

BRAHMOS: India and Russia’s joint venture, BrahMos Aerospace, has developed supersonic cruise missiles now in use by all three branches of India’s armed forces.

The missiles system can be operated at close to Mach 3 speed when it is in the cruise phase. This ensures reduced flight time and quicker engagement time.

This missile uses a fire-and-forget system and employs diverse flight paths to reach its target. Its operational altitude ranges from 10 meters to a maximum of 15 kilometers, and it carries a conventional warhead weighing between 200 and 300 kilograms.

LOITERING MUNITIONS: Military forces have recently acquired various drones, including loitering munitions, for surveillance, target identification, and precision strikes, with some capable of autonomous operation.

The agency stated that such contributions could be crucial to identify accused persons and could also help in understanding their modus operandi. The terror attack claimed 26 tourists’ lives. It is worth noting that the national agency has already collected several photographs and videos and is reviewing them thoroughly. To ensure that no crucial information is left behind, NIA has intensified its efforts.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is urging the public to share information related to their investigations. Individuals can contact the agency via phone (9654958816 mobile, or 011-24368800 landline) to provide details and any relevant materials such as photos or videos. An NIA official will then arrange to collect this information.

As the lead agency investigating the attack, the NIA is committed to examining all available information to uncover clues about the assailants and their methods. Tourists and others present in the area may have inadvertently captured details that could assist in unraveling the conspiracy behind this unprecedented targeted attack on tourists in Kashmir.

Numerous photographs and videos have been circulating on social media platforms following the Pahalgam terrorist attack. The NIA plans to meticulously review all such materials, along with any additional information from individuals who were in the area on or before the day of the incident.

National Investigation Agency (NIA) investigators are in Pahalgam collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses regarding the attack.

Following a terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22nd, the Indian army launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of Wednesday. This operation targeted terrorist facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The Indian army described the operation as retaliation for the earlier attack.

Operation Sindoor: India used this suicidal machine for the first time to destroy terrorist camps, it is called… https://www.india.com/news/world/operation-sindoor-india-used-this-suicidal-machine-for-the-first-time-to-destroy-terrorist-camps-it-is-called-7805187/ Wed, 07 May 2025 10:18:21 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7805187 New Delhi: India has taken its revenge for the Pahalgam terror attack by destroying as many as nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) on the intervening night of June 6–7. Under the operation, all three armies – Indian Army, Indian Air Force and Indian Navy, carried out airstrikes on the terrorist bases under a joint operation. The major military action was carried out at around 1:30 a.m., aiming to destroy the launchpads and weapons depots of the terrorists. During the major operation, the Indian Navy used loitering munitions for the first time to destroy the terror dens located in Pak and PoK.

The Army used loitering munitions to conduct ‘precision attacks’, ensuring that only terror launchpads were destroyed.

As per sources, the targets were chosen and locked to eliminate high-value leadership of Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed. Notably, these terrorist outfits are responsible for orchestrating major terror activities against India.

Indian Air Force intelligence-led airstrikes reportedly targeted militant training camps and hideouts belonging to Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. Times Now reported, citing its sources, that four Jaish-e-Mohammed camps, three Lashkar-e-Taiba facilities, and two Hizbul Mujahideen hideouts were destroyed.

What Is Loitering Munition?

Loitering munition is one of the most favourite terms of armed forces across the world. It is also called a suicide drone. These are the precision-guided drones loaded with an explosive that hover over the target before locking and striking on it, mostly crashing into it. Loitering munitions can be operated automatically or can also be controlled manually.

Loitering munitions are designed for persistent surveillance of a target area, making them effective against fleeting or hidden targets. Unlike traditional weapons, these munitions allow for mid-flight target adjustments or mission cancellation, providing significant tactical advantages. Though primarily aerial, similar underwater systems are under development, offering comparable attack capabilities through autonomous underwater vehicles.

What Indian Defence Ministry Said?

India’s Ministry of Defence confirmed that precision strikes were conducted on selected locations in Pak and Pok. These strikes, as per the Defence Ministry were part of “Operation Sindoor,” aimed at destroying terrorist camps.

“Our actions have been focused, measured and non-escalatory in nature. No Pakistani military facilities have been targeted,” the official statement read.

The operation came in response to the “barbaric” terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians.

The major military response came after the brutal terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives of tourists.

Operation Sindoor: Why did India use Scalp, Hammer missiles to hit terror camps in Pakistan? https://www.india.com/news/india/operation-sindoor-why-did-india-use-scalp-hammer-missiles-to-hit-terror-camps-in-pakistan-7804124/ Wed, 07 May 2025 05:55:57 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7804124 New Delhi: India has taken its revenge for the Pahalgam terror attack by destroying nine terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) on the intervening night of June 6–7. The missiles used for the major operation, which struck deep inside Pakistan and targeted terror camps, were not just calibrated but also had a tremendous impact. The missiles used by the Indian Army were Scalp cruise missiles and HAMMER precision-guided munitions. These high-precision missiles were equipped on the Rafale fighter jets, sources said. These missiles were rained down on terror camps in Pakistan, including Bahawalpur and Muridke, the strongholds of Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba.

Under the operation, all three armies – the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy, carried out airstrikes on a total of nine terrorist bases located in Pakistan and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) under a joint operation. The major military action was carried out at around 1:30 a.m., aiming to destroy the launchpads and weapons depots of the terrorists.

Operation Sindoor is a retaliation to the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam by Pakistan-based terrorists that killed 26 tourists.

India’s use of Scalp cruise missiles and HAMMER munitions in Operation Sindoor reflects a strategic shift towards targeted strikes on terrorist infrastructure while minimizing civilian harm. This contrasts with the 2019 Balakot airstrike, which utilized older Mirage 2000 aircraft. The inclusion of Rafale jets in the recent operation represents a significant enhancement to India’s military capabilities.

SCALP missile aka STORM SHADOW

Also known as Storm Shadow, SCALP missile is an air-launched cruise missile that is famous for its stealth feature, specifically designed for long-range attacks. It is a favourite among defence forces across the world because it is an all-weather missile which can be operated in night as well.

This missile has a range of 300 km and has unmatched accuracy because of its navigation system. The SCALP missile’s navigation system uses INS, GPS and terrain referencing to precisely hit the target. The missiles is manufactured by MBDA, a European consortium

This missile is highly effective against fortified structures like bunkers and ammunition depots. Its use by Ukraine to strike targets within Russia marked a significant escalation last year.

HAMMER AIR-TO-GROUND BOMB

HAMMER or Highly Agile Modular Munition Extended Range, is an air-to-ground precision-guided munition that can be used in any weather. The missile has a range of up to 70 km and can be fitted to standard bombs.

Made by French company Safran, the HAMMER missile is insensitive to jamming and is capable of launching from low altitude over rough terrain. The missile is famous because it is difficult to intercept and is capable of penetrating fortified structures.

India’s significant damage to Pakistani terrorist infrastructure, including the destruction of Jaish and Lashkar headquarters, is attributed to effective counter-terrorism operations. These groups were responsible for the Pulwama and Pahalgam attacks.
