In what could escalate the Russia-Ukraine war, British PM Keir Starmer has offered deployment of British troops in Ukraine to convince US President Donald Trump that Europe is ready to play a major role in establishing peace. Starmer said that he wants to act as a bridge between Europe and America amid growing transatlantic tensions over trade and freedom of expression.
Starmer said he will participate in a summit organised by French President Emmanuel Macron, where Europe’s role in ending the Ukraine war will be discussed. Before this meeting, he pressured other European countries to send troops to Ukraine. Starmer said, “We are ready and willing to put our troops on the ground to give security guarantee to Ukraine.” He said that European countries should take steps in this regard, but American support and security guarantee are necessary for lasting peace.
