Akshata Murty, the daughter of Infosys co-founder Narayana Murthy, along with her husband, former UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, daughters — Krishna Sunak, and Anoushka Sunak, and mother, Sudha Murthy, met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday. The Sunak family are on a visit to India, and had visited the iconic Taj Mahal in Agra on Saturday.
Rishi Sunak, the former British PM, and his wife Akshata Murty, along with their two teenage daughters, Krishna and Anoushka, and Sudha Murty, left notes in the Taj Mahal visitor’s book, describing the experience as “truly breathtaking”. Hailing the exquisite charm of the heritage monument, Sunak said few places can unite people like the Taj Mahal, adding that the visit was unforgettable, especially for his kids.
“A memory for the ages,” Akshata Murty wrote in the visitor’s book. The Sunaks also visited Fatehpur Sikri and also attended the Jaipur Literature Festival along with Narayana Murthy and Sudha Murty. Rishi Sunak also witnessed the fifth and final T20I match between India and England in Mumbai and played tennis ball cricket, during his India visit.
Meanwhile, the former British premier and his family, met PM Modi on Tuesday, with Modi hailing Sunak as a “great friend of India”.
“It was a delight to meet former UK PM, Mr. Rishi Sunak and his family! We had a wonderful conversation on many subjects. Mr. Sunak is a great friend of India and is passionate about even stronger India-UK ties, PM Modi wrote on X.
Rishi Sunak, who was also accompanied by his mother-in-law and Rajya Sabha MP Sudha Murty, and other family members, shared pictures of the meeting on his social media handles, calling “a delightful encounter.”
Rishi Sunak, the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, is married to Akshata Murty, the daughter of billionaire businessman Narayana Murthy, and Sudha Murty, a Rajya Sabha MP.
Rishi and Akshata have two daughters — Krishna Sunak, born in 2011, and Anoushka Sunak, who was born in 2013. The two girls attend the Glendower Prep, a premier prep school in London’s affluent South Kensington area. The annual fee at the school is £22,350 (Rs 24,38,726) per year.
Rishi Sunak has often mentioned how spending time with his two daughters helps him relax and take a break from his grueling schedule.
