Washington: Kim Jong Un, North Korea’s dictator, is considering the United States as his greatest enemy. According to a top Pentagon official, North Korea is moving towards the serial production of intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) capable of striking anywhere in the United States. With these missiles, North Korea could bring devastation to any location in the US.

US Northern Command (USNORTHCOM) Commander, Air Force General Gregory Guillot, provided alarming information to the Senate Armed Services Committee on February 13. He stated that Kim Jong Un’s regime is now likely producing missiles capable of launching a nuclear attack on North America. General Gregory Guillot’s warning emphasized that North Korea’s solid-fuel propellant design means that Kim Jong Un could launch an attack on the U.S. in a much shorter time frame.

North Korea’s Missile Capability:

The Ukraine war has shown that North Korean soldiers have no hesitation in risking their lives during combat and that they can go to any extent, an US official said. Following the official’s warning, significant tension has arisen in the United States.

In November, Admiral Samuel Paparo, head of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, said at a Brookings Institution event that North Korea has been continuously testing missiles. However, at that time, he mentioned that the U.S. currently has no evidence that North Korea has achieved ICBM capability. But after the test of the Hwasong-19 missile, Kim Jong Un described it as a weapon to deter enemies.

Here Are Some of the Key Details:

  • North Korea has been running an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) program for many years and has achieved success.
  • US official General Gregory Guillot has sounded the alarm regarding North Korea’s missile capabilities and warned that Kim Jong Un may soon test this capability again.
  • Last year, he also cautioned that the U.S. missile defense system may currently not be strong enough to track and destroy a North Korean missile in midair.
  • Additionally, he warned that if North Korea acquires the capability to equip its missiles with multiple reentry vehicles (MRVs), it would further increase the challenges for the United States.

It is important to note that apart from North Korea, the United States has already imposed sanctions on several Pakistani entities, including the state-owned National Development Complex, which developed the Shaheen missile. The US fears that this could enable Pakistan to gain the capability to attack American soil.
