Self-development and experiential learning form an embodiment of Devakumar Bendukuri’s personality. He got into programming in middle school after exposure to C++ and FORTRAN. Programming a machine and watching it respond were thrilling experiences that began to attract the individual toward computer science, carving the way for a high-flying career in the tech field. 

Following his B. Tech in Computer Science from Andhra University and M. Tech at NIT-Tiruchirappalli, Devakumar entered a new chapter of his career; a venture that spanned continents and industries. Having moved into this tech world from Capgemini India, he later settled in the US; where he has held several roles in some of the major banks and financial institutions, becoming a thought leader in project management, business development, and operational excellence. 

Creating a business portfolio: The vision behind it

Devakumar began working in the United States at HSBC Household Financial Corporation, where he played a leading role in the automation of the mortgage application processing and the improvement of title policy audits. Invited to join key roles in Discover Financial Services and Capital One, his experiences in business process automation, cloud integration, and AI solutions flourished owing to his fruitful engagement with HSBC. 

He is a technology expert who focuses on designing secure and scalable batch-processing applications at the high end of efficiency standards for the financial sector and its security. He has been leading the deployment of cloud services, microservices architecture, and the application of AI chatbots in business areas to improve customer experience and business efficiency. 

Beyond his professional achievements, he serves as a judge for business awards based upon technology excellence and innovation. He engages with Toastmasters International, where he hones his public speaking skills as well as mentors others in the art of communication. Devakumar’s awareness of companies that sincerely practice sustainability and resource conservation is an evidence of his ecology-sensitive consciousness. 

Liaise Contributions 

Automation of Title Policy Audits 

The audit process was automated by Mr. Devakumar at HSBC Household Financial Corporation, thus improving the title policy audit closing rates as well as making it easier to manage the system in the continental audit process.  

Verint Voice Control System for Customer Experience 

He helped design and put in place at Discover Financial Services the Verint Voice Control System that shortened customer on-call time and also enhanced customer experience in general.  

Enterprise Case Management Framework  

Devakumar spawned technical teams toward creating an enterprise Case Management Framework that is generally accepted, based on the RedHat JBPM end-to-end automation platform. He played a key part in the framework building and rollout of the first payment exception feature on the platform.  

Legacy Application Migration to AWS Cloud 

Devakumar managed the migration of the legacy applications to AWS cloud infrastructure with minimal disruption and maximized on efficiency of the system during the acquisition of Bluetarp by Capital One.  

His well-deserved rewards include:

• Capital One Circle of Excellence Award (Technical Excellence, 2022) 
• Second place in the 2019 Toastmasters International District 30 Speech Contest  
• Senior Membership in IEEE, in recognition of his contributions to the profession and service to humanity.  
• A management and behavioral expert who has dedicated his judging skills in environmental outreach to an array of awards: Cybersecurity and Sustainability by the Business Intelligence Group and HCM Excellence Awards 2022 of the Brandon Hall Group.  

Outside of work,  Indeed, all other instances affirm whatever Devakumar does with an active sense of service:  

– Volunteering for Feed My Starving Children to help abolish world hunger  

– Shift coordinator for PADS – A shelter to help the homeless since 2021.  

– Pro bono work for Qualitas of Life about enhancing their website through technology  

– Writing children’s short stories and skits with a serious storytelling attitude but a dash of creativity
