Kirti Kulhari, celebrated for her nuanced performances and fearless portrayals, has once again captivated audiences with her latest films, Badass Ravi Kumar and Hisaab Barabar. In Badass Ravi Kumar, she stars alongside Himesh Reshammiya, who reprises his iconic role as Ravi Kumar from The Xposé. The film also features Prabhu Deva as Carlos Pedro Panther, Simona J as Madhubala, and Sunny Leone as Nisha. This action-packed musical showcases Kirti’s versatility in a commercial cinema setting.
In contrast, Hisaab Barabar delves into socio-political themes, with Kirti sharing the screen with R. Madhavan, who portrays Radhe Mohan Sharma, a railway ticket examiner uncovering financial fraud. Neil Nitin Mukesh plays the antagonist, Mickey Mehta, while Rashami Desai appears as Monalisa Yadav. Kirti’s role as P. Subhash adds depth to the narrative, highlighting her ability to engage with meaningful and thought-provoking cinema.
In an exclusive conversation with India.com, Kirti reflected on her journey as an actor, discussing the roles that have profoundly influenced her personal growth. Known for embracing unconventional narratives, she spoke candidly about the impact of Four More Shots Please!, the web series that resonated with modern audiences for its bold portrayal of female friendships, desires, and ambitions.
For Kirti, playing Anjana Menon in Four More Shots Please! was more than just another role—it was a transformative experience. “Four More Shots Please has brought a lot of insight into my life. It has helped me question many conditionings we have as a society, especially regarding women. The series made me very comfortable in my skin, with my sexuality, with my body, and with the idea of what is sexy and what is beautiful,” she shared.
The Amazon Prime series, which ran for three seasons, tackled themes of love, relationships, career struggles, and self-acceptance. Kirti’s portrayal of a single mother navigating modern relationships was lauded for its realism and relatability. She credits the show for helping her embrace her true self without societal filters.
Beyond Four More Shots Please!, Kirti has continuously taken on roles that challenge conventional storytelling. She mentioned Shaadisthan, where she played Sasha, a fiercely independent musician who refuses to conform. “Sasha is an empowered, free soul. She does what she wants and lives life on her terms. That role was incredibly liberating for me,” Kirti said.
She also touched upon her experience working in Human, where she explored the dark underbelly of the medical world, and how these roles have shaped her as an artist. “Every project teaches me something. Acting is not just a profession; it’s a way to experience life in different dimensions,” she added.
With Badass Ravi Kumar and Hisaab Barabar now released, Kirti is eager for audiences to experience her diverse roles. In Badass Ravi Kumar, directed by Keith Gomes, she portrays Laila, adding a dynamic layer to the film’s ensemble cast, which includes Johny Lever as Raja, Sanjay Mishra as Rana, and Rajesh Sharma as Jagawar. The film’s unique blend of action and music offers a fresh take on the genre.
In Hisaab Barabar, directed by Ashwni Dhir, Kirti’s portrayal of P. Subhash complements a strong ensemble cast featuring Faisal Rashid as a bank clerk, Rajesh Jais as the bank manager, and Ishtiyak Khan as a credit card seller. The film’s narrative centers on exposing systemic corruption, with R. Madhavan’s character leading the charge.
As she continues her journey, one thing remains constant—her commitment to pushing boundaries, both in cinema and in her personal growth. With each performance, Kirti Kulhari is redefining what it means to be a fearless, independent, and unapologetic artist in the Indian film industry.
