Operation Sindoor live updates: The Indian armed forces on Wednesday launched deadly strikes on terrorist bases at nine sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 people on April 22. Codenamed Operation Sindoor, the mission on terror state Pakistan lasted from 1.04am to 1.30am. Foreign secretary Vikram Misri, along with Colonel Sofiya Qureshi and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, addressed a briefing on Operation Sindoor. Misri said it was essential to bring to justice the perpetrators and planners of the Pahalgam attack as there was “no demonstrable step” from Pakistan to act against terrorist infrastructure on territories controlled by it, even after a fortnight. Rattled Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday said that his country has every right to give a “befitting reply to this act of war imposed by India”. He added that the Pakistani armed forces “know very well how to deal with the enemy”. Pakistani defence minister Khawaja Asif, however, said Islamabad is ready to “wrap up” tensions with New Delhi, if it de-escalates the situation.

    Delhi: Colonel Sofiya Qureshi says, “During the press briefing on operation Sindoor on 07 May 2025, India had called its response as focused, measured and non-escalatory. It was specifically mentioned that Pakistani military establishments had not been targeted. It was also reiterated that any attack on military targets in India will invite a suitable response. On the night of 07-08 May 2025, Pakistan attempted to engage a number of military targets in Northern and Western India including Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj, using drones and missiles. These were neutralised by the Integrated Counter UAS Grid and Air Defence systems. The debris of these attacks is now being recovered from a number of locations that prove the Pakistani attacks.”
    In the interest of national security, all OTT platforms, media streaming platforms and intermediaries operating in India are advised to discontinue the web-series, films, songs, podcasts and other streaming media content, whether made available on a subscription based model or otherwise, having its origins in Pakistan with immediate effect: Ministry of Information and Broadcasting
  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh says, “The precision with which Operation Sindhoor was executed is unimaginable, very praiseworthy. Nine terorrists camps were destroyed in it and a large number of terrorists were killed. This operation was carried out without harming any innocent and with minimum collateral damage…”
  • The Harpy drones designed to attack radar systems were used by the Indian armed forces to target enemy air defence systems in Pakistan. Meanwhile, the Air Defence system at Lahore has been neutralised by Indian military drone action.

  • UNGA President urges India, Pakistan to exercise maximum restraint
    United Nations General Assembly President Philemon Yang on Thursday said that he is “deeply concerned” about “escalating hostilities between India and Pakistan” and urged the two nations to exercise “maximum restraint”.
