Tamil Nadu Sports Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin was appointed as Deputy CM on Saturday.

Apart from the Sports Ministry, the 46-year-old actor-turned-politician has also been allotted the Planning and Development portfolio.

Udhayanidhi Stalin is the son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.

He entered politics before the 2019 general elections and represents the Chepauk-Thiruvallikeni constituency.

Before joining politics, Udhayanidhi established himself in Tamil cinema through his production company, Red Giant Movies. He made his debut in the 2012 film Oru Kal Oru Kannadi.

According to Udhayanidhi’s nomination papers during the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly polls, he declared assets worth Rs 33 crore.

Udhayanidhi Stalin has 22 criminal cases filed against him.

In September last year, Udhayanidhi compared Sanatana Dharma to "dengue" and "malaria."

He stated that Sanatana Dharma should be "eradicated."

After completing his schooling at Don Bosco School, he attended Loyola College, Chennai, where he obtained a B.Sc. degree in Visual Communication in 1997.
