The incident came to light when Madhavi’s parents lodged her missing complaint in the Meerpet police station on January 16. The accused has been identified as Guru Murthy, a 45-year-old man who is an ex-army man. He reportedly informed Madhavi’s parents that she left their home following a heated argument between them and has visited her relative’s house. When the police questioned Guru, he allegedly admitted to murdering his wife on January 15 after a heated argument between them.

As per TOI reports, Guru chopped Madhavi’s body in the bathroom and boiled the body parts in a pressure cooker.  He then separated the bones, ground them using a pestle, and boiled them again. After multiple rounds of boiling the flesh and bones for three consecutive days, he packed and dumped them into Meerpet Lake. Authorities have deployed teams and dog squads to search for the victim’s remains in Meerpet Lake.

The accused, Guru Murthy, is a former soldier and is currently working as a security guard in the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). The couple has two children—a boy and a girl. Reportedly, the couple had frequent fights. However, it is not yet clear why the alleged murder took place. The police reported that the children were in the Gurumurthy’s sister’s house when the incident took place.

Police confirmed that the further investigation is underway. The case will be reclassified as murder after sufficient evidence is gathered.

Mother, Son With ‘Extremely Rare’ Heart Condition Operated Upon Successfully At Hyderabad Hospital https://www.india.com/telangana/mother-son-with-extremely-rare-heart-condition-operated-upon-successfully-at-hyderabad-hospital-7139185/ Sun, 04 Aug 2024 12:45:29 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7139185 Hyderabad: Medical professionals are said to be godsend healers who provide relief to those suffering from various illnesses. Proving this adage yet again, a team of doctors and surgeons successfully operated on a woman and her son at a private hospital in Hyderabad. The two have suffering from aortic aneurysms, balloon-like bulges that occur in the aorta, the main artery that carries oxygen-rich blood to the body.

The case is reported to be exceptionally rare, involving a woman who inherited a heart condition from her mother and subsequently transmitted it to both her sons. While such conditions may arise from genetic factors, the incidence of the exceedingly rare Marfan Syndrome is even less common, affecting merely 0.19 individuals per 100,000.

Marfan Syndrome is a genetic disorder that changes the proteins that help make healthy connective tissue.

Dr. Vishal V. Khante, a Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon, reported that a mother and son underwent successful surgery at Kamineni Hospital. The medical team replaced their aneurysmal aortas with artificial ones, saving their lives. The doctors noted that this family, being exceptionally tall, encounters numerous health challenges. They suffer from weak bones and ligaments, as well as issues with their blood vessels and valves.

“About six months ago, a woman came to our emergency department. After various tests, we found that her aorta had ruptured due to an aneurysm. We immediately performed emergency surgery to implant an artificial aorta. She was noticeably taller than the average woman, standing at 5 feet 9 inches,” Khante said.

The woman’s 18-year-old son, who visited her, was also notably tall at 6 feet 4 inches, indicating genetic similarities. “We suspected that the son might also inherit certain conditions, including Marfan Syndrome, and tested him as well. We found the same issue and advised him to undergo surgery immediately. However, due to financial constraints, they returned six months later,” said the doctor.

The young man had a significantly enlarged aorta. Following all the necessary tests, the doctors decided to perform the Bentall procedure, a complex surgery.

“We removed the enlarged aorta and replaced it with an artificial one, implanting a size 29 valve and tube. This is a very complex and challenging surgery, with only about a 50 per cent success rate. Fortunately, the surgeries for both the mother and now the elder son were completely successful,” said Khante.

“This hereditary condition is passed down genetically. In this case, it affected the grandmother, the mother, and the elder son. Tests on the 14-year-old younger son revealed he also has the same issue. Identifying these conditions as early as possible allows timely intervention before the aorta enlarges and ruptures,” Khante said.

Hyderabad’s Night Owls Rejoice! Restaurants, Eateries, Except Liquor Shops Will Now Serve Till 1 AM https://www.india.com/telangana/hyderabads-night-owls-rejoice-restaurants-eateries-except-liquor-shops-now-to-serve-till-1-am-7136216/ Sat, 03 Aug 2024 06:29:32 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7136216 Restaurants and eating joints in Greater Hyderabad can now operate until 1 am, announced CM A Revanth Reddy during the assembly session. Liquor stores, on the other hand, must close by 11 pm. The decision follows complaints, including concerns raised by AIMIM legislator Akbaruddin Owaisi, regarding police actions in enforcing closure regulations. Reddy addressed the issue in the Telangana Assembly after meeting with police commissioners from Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda. The extended operating hours for restaurants aim to address public grievances and enhance the city’s nightlife scene while ensuring compliance with regulations and maintaining public safety.

“I held a meeting with police commissioners of Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Rachakonda on July 24 and 25 and directed them to allow eateries to carry on their business till 1 am under the three commissionerates,” the CM said during a shot discussion on ‘activities for sustainable urban development in Hyderabad’ in the assembly.

However, the CM made it clear that he was against promoting liquor consumption and wine shops will be closed as per rules. “The govt will also tackle anti-social elements with an iron hand as policing in our govt will not be cosmetic. I want the cooperation of AIMIM’s seven MLAs and one MP, and other legislators from the city to maintain law and order,” he said.

“Hyderabad is ours and it is our responsibility to not only protect its heritage and culture developed by the Qutb Shahis, Nizams and successive democratic govts, but also take its brand image to further heights,” he said.

Rumors circulated about a supposed 11 PM closure order for businesses, causing uproar among citizens. Despite no official confirmation, public outrage grew, prompting questions and concerns. A viral video depicted city police threatening lathi-charge against individuals violating the alleged curfew. The lack of clarity and conflicting reports added to the confusion and frustration within the community.

There are pictures with my wife on my social media platforms and people use them for a different perspective. I had no other option but to make my social media accounts private,” he said in a statement.

A user said, “Imagine the plight of deserving candidate who have appeared for the interview and didn’t make it. How he will be feeling seeing these incidents?” Another user said, “Looks like someone is cycling away from transparency!”

Air Taxis Services in Hyderabad To Be Operational by 2030: Check Details Here https://www.india.com/telangana/air-taxis-services-in-hyderabad-to-be-operational-by-2030-check-details-here-7038268/ Tue, 25 Jun 2024 07:53:44 +0000 https://www.india.com/?p=7038268 Hyderabad: Flying over traffic-jammed city roads might look like a scene from science fiction, but it will be a reality by 2030 in Hyderabad as city-based startups are making it a potential reality within the next five to six years. Some startups like BluJ Aerospace and AirArk are developing eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) technology. Marut Drones and Drogo Drones are preparing drone technology for urban air mobility.

It should be noted that India has started laying the foundation for urban air mobility, with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) forming technical committees to make the way for air taxis.

This initiative of the start-ups targets major cities such as Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, and Bengaluru for initial deployment by 2026, after by cities like Chennai and Hyderabad.

The essential infrastructural developments for these air taxis are being planned in collaboration with InterGlobe Enterprises (IGE), parent company of IndiGo, and US-based Archer Aviation.

After the regulations for eVTOL operations are finalised, the IGE will assist in establishing vertiports and other essential infrastructure.

As per a report by TOI, the DGCA established several committees to address crucial aspects such as air navigation, operational routes, and safety standards for vertiports. The whole idea is to ensure that all regulatory frameworks are in place for the launch of air taxis by 2026, positioning India as a leader in regulatory readiness for eVTOL services.

The TOI report said that key collaborations have already been formed, including a significant order placed by IGE for 200 Midnight air taxis from Archer, amounting to approximately a billion dollars. Nikhil Goel, Chief Commercial Officer at Archer, told the news portal that the cost per passenger for these air taxi services would be only slightly higher than Uber fares.

In the meantime, Archer now plans to start operations in the US next year, targeting cities like New York and Chicago initially, with expansion plans into India and the UAE shortly after, as reported by ET.
